That's definitely Alan in that suit. The question is whether that outfit is specific to a job, maybe a flashback, maybe something else entirely. Recall that Nathan's blog entry (where he talked about costuming for the BDM) mentioned that Alan's new togs made him look "tough"... I'd say that's what we're seeing here. Although I do agree that he looks a lot more military than before - but he's also had green jumpsuits before, too. The orange is just the most noticable from the series. From the set behind him, I'm hoping it's a glimpse into Wash's past (although I doubt it...)
