Please forgive me, I didn't read the entire thread.

That said, the only thing I remember about Immortal is that it was absolutely crazy and it had Egyptian gods playing monopoly.

I had been looking for this thread and wasn't having any luck, but you started it a lot longer ago that I thought. Thanks for the bump.

Yeah, I watched it last night, on Blu-Ray from Netflix, then ordered it off amazon.com this morning, just $8.99. I know I have to watch it a couple more times just to make up my mind if I liked it or not, but for now I'm giving it a thumbs up.

The Fifth Element on LSD is a good description (hint, please take your dyslexia medication, Chris). I would compare it to a mash-up of Fifth Element, Blade Runner, Brazil, Night Watch, with early Tim Burton on steroids tossed in. That's visually. Thematically, it's as original a movie as I've seen it quite some time.

Normally when viewing a movie or TV show on DVD, I will pause it occasionally for kitchen and/or bathroom breaks. I couldn't do that last night. I was compelled to keep watching no matter what my bladder was telling me.

Yeah, I've seen it twice since I bought it, and I *know* I like it a lot, but what a movie in that I cannot tell you precisely why without some serious contemplation...

Visual dynamism, likable heroine, the Gods thing, the sexual dynamic... It's a cornucopia of chaos tied together with a beautiful other-worldly ribbon.

LDS is Kirk dummy-talk, EC.

Hey EC, did the end when

Select to view spoiler:

her baby killed the bird

disturb you? Was that just nature being reborn thru the Gods? Or was it a statement on the fact that we have predatory parts within us all?

Crap, I hafta watch it a couple dozen more times, I think...

You know, I think I've caught this a couple times on SyFy (back when it was SciFi). And watching it edited as it was, I just couldn't get into it.

At all.

But because of my past experience with it I would be VERY hard pressed to actually buy/rent it to watch it yet again.

That, and I just couldn't get into the dialogue. Seemed way to fragmented to me. And I'm the one in the household that routinely has to interpret foreign/semi-foreign films for my wife. I was just lost.

BUT! I did enjoy the visuals of the movie. And the concept of the "Gods" returning. But past that, I gave it a great, big, fat, juicy raspberry. Mostly due to my own failings at comprehending it.

Do not try to understand the ways of the Gods, my friend.

At least not the randy ones with dog snouts...

I can imagine that Sci-Fi edited it so heavily it would have been difficult to comprehend, when it's already so freaking weird to begin with. I'd recommend you try renting it (Netflix if ya got it, and Blu-Ray if ya got a player for it too). Since amazon had it for just $8.99 I figured I could watch it a few more times then sell it on Ebay if I get tired of it and make back most of it. That's less than what I pay a month for Netflix anyway.
