That was my impression of "Avatar". Just another version of Pocahontas. Not bad when you consider they are getting ideas for movies from video games.

I never actually saw the movie. I caught part of the end on cable once and saw some chick saying "I'll never let go" to Leo who was in icy water and she was floating on a board or something. Bunch of emotional music played and then she let go. wtf? What a bitch to lie to the dude and then drown him in icy water.

I saw it once in the theater when it came out. Unfortunately one of the girls I saw it with started crying as soon as the thing hit the iceberg and those of you who saw it know that's pretty much just the half way mark...
The other girls behind us laughed at her, the other girl (my friend, cry miss cryer pants was not my friend in fact I didn't really like her) kept giving them evil glares.
That is my experience with Titanic.
I admit I used to be a teeny bopper and saw it for Leo.
My how things have changed. But at least I got it out of my system!

We saw it in the theater when I was nine. I have yet to rationalize the *why* as it was dramatic, inevitably depressing, and I was bored to tears (I'm not a huge fan of dramas).
The one laugh I got out of the experience was when we were getting our seats before lights down and dad announced to half the theater "The boat sinks." One guy a couple of rows down turned around and deadpanned "Aw, come on, you RUINED it!"

There a dozens of films that are about the sinking or make it part of the film. The first I remember about the sinking is "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" with Debbie Reynolds. A lot more entertaining.

It was a great film. I have not seen it in years. I remember Ms. Reynolds performance. For a small person see makes quit a presence.
