When we are kids... no...
When we fall in love... prolly not...
When we graduate college & get a high-paying job...
When we buy a house?
A new REALLY nice car?
When the world is at peace?
When we have a mid-life crisis?
When we work out our inner-child issues?
When we retire?
When we die??

Since when has the destination been more important than the journey?

"Work. Wander. Rest when I can."

In most cases, we usually begin to live our lives when we decide to.

Interesting that this came up. I saw this today while roaming around.

Posted to my Facebook/Flickr with the caption "Yes! I finally found it!"

I decided to at about age 13 or so... but love issues got in the way, so, been fading in & out of it ever since.

In the absence of a tall ship & a star to steer her by, I have been relying on Trek, Firefly, Wing Chun & nature to be my guide.

If I'd been an islander, surfing would be my meditation, I conjure.

Never would have figured that Wing Chun would be a guide. BTW, did you see Ip Man? There is also a prequel and a sequel on the way.

I would have figured that Tai Chi would be a better martial arts to live by or even Pa Qua.

And the love thing? I really do believe that people try too hard at love sometimes and end up failing.

It taught me the way to approach a flexible way in the real world. With bits of Tai Chi, Drunken Boxing & other arts, I feel physically prepared for obstacles & threats. Plus, a guide (metaphorically) for dealing with a**holes as well.

Not yet, but I 'spect it to be as accurate as "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story"

For more active & impatient peeps like me, those are a little slow. But, I can confound a Tai Chi pal of mine when I slip into Drunken Boxing mode! Heh heh.

Yeah. There is no try. Just do.

We are living our lives, we just might not be on the path we were hoping for, or cannot accept the situation we're in and find the will to change it or take another road.

It's your life, make of it what you will.

I'm at another one of those crossroads again. I think this time I'm going to pull up a handy log and think about which way to go. My life is entangled with those of two other people who I feel I have to consider, at least a little bit. I could only worry about what I want, but then I might really mess up the good things I have going right now.
Still living my life, just need to tweak it a bit.

When we realize that our lives are what we make them, not what others think they should be. If we live our lives primarily to obtain others approval, friendship, or even love, we'll never find ourselves. However, once we begin to live as we feel we should - for our own good - the friendship and love will find us, and be more fulfilling.

I'll be 60 this year, so when I finally get out of my adolescent phase I'll let you know how it's going.

There's a saying in the disabled community that I think applies to life too...

You get on the plane expecting to be in Paris but when you get off, you find that you're in Amsterdam instead.

You're awfully disappointed and sad at the same time and mourn for your lost trip to Paris. But eventually you find out that Amsterdam is just as amazing as Paris and you learn to live there.

You have to find the great things where ever you are.

I've been doing that for a long time. Sometimes it's a struggle not to go into the abyss but at age 50 things seem to be looking up.

Pffff. Ok lemme think a sec.... I reckon for me when I started thinking properly about the consequences of doing crazy stunts! Which was around the time I fell for the girl across the road so - I'd have been about twelve.... Odd thing was I used to do stunts to show off to girls. Yet when I got together with a girl, I suddenly thought about how immature it must all have looked like, and so I stopped. For the most part anyway...

Thereafter I guess a 'design' about how I would live my life started to form...
