Watch it and love it.
But I always thought Captain Harris had what my hubby calls "I"-strain.
"I determine when the crew sleeps, what they eat, where we fish" All true, but you don't hear the other Captains pounding on the obvious.
Smoked like a chimney, drank Red Bull like a fish. You'd have thought the first pulmonary embolism would have taught him something? I suspect he went off his coumadin... didn't seem like the kind of guy to be moderate in ANYTHING he did.
And although his death by stroke (or lung cancer!) seemed to be predetermined, I'm glad he got his two sons to be part of the crew- got them to man up to the job. That was his legacy, and it is a good one.
Rest in Peace.

Never watched the show, but I'd heard he was in the hospital after his stroke. Sorry to hear that he passed.

This is sad news. I thought Captain Phil was an okay guy who obviously loved both of his sons. He might be hard on them at times, but they usually deserved it and he always made it clear that he still loved them. I'll miss him on the show and I wish only the best for his whole family.

Not to be too morbid - well OK, I'll cop to morbid but it comes with having worked in hospitals - better to have a massive stroke and die soon than a debilitating one and live for years.
I thought he was a drama queen and not too wise. But he did love his sons, that was obvious. And that means a lot in my book.

He did love his sons, and his crew, and they all loved him back enormously; the Cornelia Marie won't be the same without him :\
My sympathies to the family :(

Watched the show, if you were going to do that work then he seemed like a pretty cool guy to work for.
What is it about people (mostly men) and their self destructive habits they seem to cling to? He knew, and he knew anyone who knew him knew, that he wasn't going to outlive his bad habits for long. Sad for his sons, I hope they learn from his example.
