Okay. It seems they were trying to show how much Kate is Castle's "type" by showing "the one who got away" with a bunch of the same traits. I'm sure I missed some of the parallels but perhaps the board can provide a more complete list?

1. Kira Blaine -> KB -> Kate Beckett

2. Both women have a mole on their cheek

3. Castle dedicated a book to each of them.

Other than what you listed, I hadn't thought there was much to compare them with, other than being attractive and both being brunettes.

According to one of the writers of the ep who was in the castletv.net chat room during the episode airing the KB thing was just a coincidence :)
