Indeed. It also doesn't matter. If he's got integrity then he'll make a good movie or walk. Leaving him either liking the movies he made or without integrity. Either choice doesn't paint him in such a great light.

Yeah.... that's how it works..... in imaginationland. Oy.

The Vulturess?! Anne Hathaway, to this day, OWNS the top slot on my elevator list, (even after Get Smart, egad,) so I'm forced to be glad that that bird don't fly. But the idea that The Lizard isn't a good enough villain is preposterous! Yo! Idiots at Sony! Phone home re: Godzilla!
An absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary reboot of high school aged Peter Parker wouldn't be so bad if they could work the time line laid down by Brian Michael Bendis in the "Ultimate Spider-man" run. I think he distilled the essential elements of the Web Crawlers myth with deft homage.
Sure, sure, and Petey'll be nervous and sarcastic too, not all *sparkley* and ever so (ever so?) EVER so emo...
Spider-man No More, indeed.

For one - Raimi didn't have control - that's a big reason he walked. Sony did not want him using the Vulture, or his second choice, The Lizard. The script was a mess (this according to about everyone involved), and focused on Peter and MJ having a baby.
Yeah,
OK.
Raimi did have complete control of the story for 4. He didn't "walk", he simply couldn't make the 2011 deadline(wanted a better writer) that Sony was pushing for.

Why don't you do a bit of research before you post inaccurate facts, or at least tell us where you get these wild stories from. Thanks.

Yup, it will be a disaster.

Uh... for one, that article is from August. Things move fast in the movie biz, son.
Two - Raimi left because he couldn't make a 2011 date??? So Sony moves the film to 2012? Riiiight, that makes sense.
Hell, did you even read the link you posted?? It says:
Quote:
So the short version here is that Sony has hired a writer Raimi wasn’t entirely happy with to write more Spider-Man movies. And what happened the last time Sony did something that Sam Raimi wasn’t entirely happy with? We got Spider-Man 3.

This could be Sony making plans to ditch Raimi and the rest to do whatever the hell they want, with a different cast and a different director.
Yeah.... sounds like total control. Damn, it doesn't even say anything about Raimi missing the date! Is this you just floating your own BS theory, unresearched, and then bitching at me about sourcing?? Sounds like it.
Sure, the "official" word was that Raimi had control over the story. But that was also the official tale on 3, and then it turned out he had Venom forced on him.
You seem to be reading the official press releases put out by the studio marketing department and taking them as the whole story. Come on.
There have been rumors of script problems for a while (there have been at least 5 writers involved with the now-abandoned script). But the original reports about a delay on the film came about a month ago (not October, I was off on the timetable) and, I would point out - the studio insisted at the time that all was well on the movie, and it was only on holiday hiatus. http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7951:
spider-man-4-production-on-indefinite-hold&catid=43:exclusive-features&Itemid=73
The story was picked up by many other sites, and later turned into the Jan 5th announcement - again from the studio and reported in Variety - that the film was going on indefinite hold - but that Raimi and co. were still attached. Maguire said in an interview Jan. 8th that the delay was over script issues http://www.wopular.com/tobey-maguire-comments-spider-man-4-delay-says-
its-still-coming-2011.
And then this.
You tell me to do a littlee research, and then display no knowledge of what has been going on.
Pretty damned weak.

Yes, complete creative control over the story gives one the power to pass on any script the director dislikes(exactly what happened).
I'm not bitching, you're just posting your own dreamed up theories and I'm posting what I have read about Spiderman 4.
About the date thing, if I post another link will you feel stupid, and stop arguing with fact?

Storymark, show me an article stating Raimi decided to "walk" on Spidey 4.
Thanks in advance.

The article you posted, the Deadline Hollywood one, say he walked.
But again, your taking the press release as the real story, whereas everything I posted runs back a month. The reason he couldn't make the date they wanted was they didn't have a script he was willing to shoot because the studio and he could not agree on the direction of the film. How is this not consistant with what I wrote?
You present it like he's not "able" to complete the film by that date. He chooses not to do a shitty film in a hurry. There is a difference.
And, perhaps you don't read as many industry sites as I, which is understandable, as that's about all I read, but Frinke is considered by many to be an on-the-payrole studio shill for Sony amongst a couple others.
And, as the links I posted - and the ones you posted - show, I'm hardly posting my wild ideas. The story is right there.
So again, maybe you should do your own research before attacking others.
