The Shady Lady Ranch, located about a two-and-a-half hour's drive from Las Vegas, won the right from a county commission this week to hire men. The ruling cemented proprietor Bobbi Davis' sentiments that prostitution regulations were outdated and discriminatory.
When the economy affected her business, Davis said she figured she'd be the one to lead the fight for change.
"With the economy the way it is, why don't we try it on a small scale and see how it works out," she told ABCNews.com.
Davis said there is demand for male prostitutes, adding that she's gotten "a lot of requests" both from women and couples "who want to add another person to the mix."

Well, I think Joss is always in favor of gender equality. I'm not sure what his views of prostitution are, but I think he'd approve of something that is legal for women being made legal for men.
The Heart of Gold is supposed to be better than the Companion Guild with its restrictive rules, so it makes sense that the boy whores would first be seen there.

I'm confused. How is it 'better' ? I thought that there were 'boy' companions. Is that not the case ?

There were. You can see one very briefly in the Training House in Serenity, walking down the hallway.
I think they are not as common, however.

Gigolos , as I understand the concept, don't operate in a brothel setting. I know, it may be semantics, but there's a reason why we distinguish between street walkers and escorts.
I don't know what that reason may be, but I'm sure there is one.
As for the duel threads in different forums, I posted one before the other, not sure which forum it was best suited. The thinking was that I could delete one of the threads if I had indeed posted in the inappropriate forum.

Y'know, that wouldn't be a bad idea to bring up to Haken in the FFF.net 2.0 area - the possibility that the ORIGINAL poster of a thread could delete it as long as nobody had responded to it yet. Once someone responds, it's up for good.
Also, ONLY the original poster and the mods/admin could change thread titles, but that's been brought up.
Now, as to street walkers and escorts, I think it's all semantics. And a really good escort can't really get busted for prostitution, because she'll clearly explain that you're not paying for sex - you're paying for her to LEAVE afterwards! :)
