I have been itchin to make a fan vid for a while now and have been mulling over ideas. Now that I have an idea of WHAT I want to do, I need some advice on HOW.

For anyone who has made a fan vid...what software did you use for video and audio capture, and also to put the video together. I have been playing around with Windows MovieMaker but am having trouble importing video and audio. For one thing, it won't let me import music I copied to the computer from a CD because it gives a dialog box saying its copyrighted. As for the video, I can't even find a player with a recording function.

Any tips/hints/advice would be greatly appreciated.

not sure if any of this will help as I'm a mac man but for the one i did ( and the ones i'm planning to do ) I ripped my audio/video straight off my DVD's with a little program called OSex ( it's not as naughty as it sounds ) then used Final Cut Pro ( god i love this program ) to edit it all together.

Odds are the problem you're having with the cd audio/moviemaker combo is DRM security ( digital rights managment ) the biggest pain in the behind ever to strike the common man ( and totaly against fair use in my opinion )

Should be noted i paid for all the above.

I would suggest joining the Vidders list at Yahoo. There's is a massive amount of info in the files section, FAQ, and nearly nine hundred members who can help you with various questions regarding vids in general.
