Attacking PN's credibility is, well as someone else just put it, "shooting fish in a barrel".
Credit him with the research acumen that he brings to these debates, disagree with him, but recognize that we're all basically a bunch of loons, and if he outstrips us at times, then, well, it just makes him king loon.
Just because we're loons, doesn't make us wrong. But if someone is wrong, just target that.

I recall from the 9/11 committee hearings, before the ommission report, this exchange:
I forget who the senator was, I think it was McCain, but it might've been Leahy, the Administration official I also forget, I think it was Cheney.

Administration: Only the extreme alarmists were saying that Osama bin Laden would fly planes into the world trade centers. You can't listen to yahoos who cry the sky is falling.

I have somehow remained ignorant all these years of posting here. Piratenews' research acumen never became apparent to me.
For the record, a stopped watch sometimes tells the correct time, but no one would prefer it to a functioning chronometer if they wanted to know what time it was.
A small portion of Piratenews' ramblings sometimes happens to be right. However, I would not consult him any more seriously than I would consult a telephone psychic or internet palm reader.
If he approached his arguments logically, vetted his sources, and narrowed his arguments to exclude personal racism and religious bias, he might be one of the great news sources of our time.
But that's like saying a two legged dog could be a great dog race contestant if only he had those two other legs.

The fact that Frem and I both bother to pay attention to what he has to say should say something. It's not our anti-semitism or love of UFOs that drive us.
Actually, to be on the level, John is not really a lunatic, he just pretends to be one on the internet. He's really a pretty informed guy. He's just realized like any media personality that absurdity gets more attention

I agree. I'm not shouting from the rooftops, or supporting anything like the post on the top of this thread, which of course was an attempt at humor.
I do think that his research abilities are quite good, and he has uncovered a lot of things. Sure, he coats it in crazy, most of which is an act, but some is skewed by christianity.
If you read people who disagree with you, you learn. If you read people who really disagree with you, you can learn a lot.
My first encounter with Pirate News was when I posted my first thread, he had been absent from the forum, and appeared on my thread and spammed it with vicera. I think I called him a Nazi. Since then, I've gotten to know him off forum, he's really a pretty bright guy.
My main difference is he wants attention. I don't. I don't seek any attention at all. I'm a tomato farmer with a 5th grade education and an income of practically zero. I support myself, and have no problem doing so because I opt out of society, and carry no debt. I also have two properties, a moderate amount of land, all tolled not a lot of asset value, but I pay no rent, maybe 200 a year in taxes, in short, I live at a level that is probably sub third world, but I'm quite content. As I mentioned more than a few times, I'm a Taoist, though I have no problem with the kind of christians around here, who are more jesus like, and not too different from myself. I read their bible two times through from beginning to end, it's about 800,000 words but a good read. I decided I like their Christ, but not their God. I'm not a simpleton as you can tell, but in a way I am. I'm very much like my peers, and yeah, I wouldn't have a problem voting for Sarah Palin.
All of that said, I'm very familiar with the political scene, and the corporate scene, and travel a great deal. I've been way outside of my milieu here. I used to be head of the state Reform Party (Perot) and have worked for the democrats and virtually all other parties, I've also worked a lot with computers, programming, teaching, and helped design one of the online search engines. I've been a corporate CEO, I have a strong background in medicine, but true to my faith, I live a low profile by choice, which is to say, essentially a no profile. I have no ambitions for myself. If someone tracks me down and finds me, they won't be surprised. I'm never going to come under fire for the sort of things Pirate News would, not because I'm the descendent of holocaust survivors or my pro-Israel stance, which doesn't go so far as to support some of the extreme actions of recent regimes, but is to the right of the forum here, but because I'm really not an agitator.
The whole area here is full of this mindset, and no one attracts attention, because it's not what you say or know, it how you act that really attracts attention.
Pirate News is out for publicity, shock value, and audience. I don't have any interest in that. He says a lot of what he says for those reasons, but that doesn't mean I fault his underlying research... usually.
When I do, I argue the point. We've had a number of discussions about things like the conversion of Khazar jews or the nature of secret societies like Bohemian grove, and the total non-significance of the owl statue there. Eg. The owl statue was built by some artist for no reason. The occultists incorporated it into their ritual because it inspired awe. So called human sacrifices made by so called satanic cults are nothing more than mysterian cover for regular homocides.
I believe in facts, not theories, but I investigate theories because official stories are generally filled to the brim with propaganda. Betsy Ross didn't design the flag, the flag is the flag of the East India Company, who became the US Navy, with the help of Benedict Arnold IIRC, and they defeated the British at sea. There was essentially not much of a revolutionary war. The war was won at sea by the Navy, who then took over the country, which is why we fly their flag.

Piratenews is very selective about how far he takes his research, and in what directions. He only goes into excruciating detail in directions that support his particular belief or bias. He completely fails to research other avenues that may provide ample evidence against his belief or bias.
It's akin to someone who believes in the spontaneous generation of flies in decaying organic matter. He might research from here to next year about how maggots and flies universally and mysteriously spawn from spoiled produce or deceased carcasses. He'll have videos of maggots forming on the dead flesh. He'll have links to articles about how the heat of decaying organics must interact with the chemicals in the cells to form the conditions on Earth at the beginning of creation.
And he'll overlook the simple, logical, and straightforward explanation for maggots and flies.
This is the disservice that Piratenews provides. And by performing this disservice incessantly, he ensures that any value contained in his message is absorbed by only a scarce few.
If he's a showman, well then he's a showman who is ruining the plot, chewing up the scenery, and making a mockery of the script. If you're trying to convey a message or even make people think, it's not the most productive way to do things.
There ARE people who do better research and communicate that research much more effectively, and those are the people you should encourage and support. Frem, for one, conveys many of the same messages as Piratenews, and often manages to convey the message in a way that doesn't drive away his audience or inflame them on tangential subjects that detract from the point.
Maybe I'd be very impressed by Piratenews if I met him in person, but I'm not likely to. This is the place where he meets the world, and where he blasts the information he supposedly craves to convey into a million pieces.
Occasionally, very rarely, he posts something useful, and when he does I do acknowledge it. And then he usually fubs it up with Nazis and Jews and other tangential nonsense.

Me, I split the difference, and at least try to offer a realistic and honest assessment of the potential dangers and consequences as well, cause there really are things in this world which just the knowing of can hurt you - and part of PN's crazy is directly caused by some of that.
Of course, I'm bonkers too, just more articulate and charming about it.
