OK, now I've been trudging through kingelbert's posts since he came around, but now I finally have found that my head hurts after reading this thread. Previously, I thought folk were exaggerating.

It was probably because of people like KingAholz that she went private. the fandom in general tends to be very respectful of our BDHs.
It's the stalkers and the rude Trolls who do the damage.
I always use the Browncoat Cruise as an example of the mutual respect the castmembers and the fans have. We were in close confines
together, on a cruise ship, for 5 days. 220 fans and 5 celebrities* in a very intimate setting. We all dined together, met in the aft
lounge for Q&A sessions, attended seminars, photo sessions, and fun events. No one complained. The guests had a blast, and the
fans were treated with all the courtesy they gave the guests.

Hmmm... there also appears to be someone on Jewel's IMDB page that thinks there has been some weight gain. I would say it might be KingEICHOLZ but the other poster on the IMDB boards actually has a grasp of grammar and the English language. Congratulations KingEICHOLZ, you are actually the inferior of the two people in the in Universe that think Mrs. Staite is fat.
