Time for some good ol' fashioned conjecturin' about FIREFLY.

Ok. It's been some years since out beloved show was cancelled, leaving us all to ponder and wonder about what might have been.
Thankfully we have this great sight (thanks Haken) to sob, weap, and mourn over for the loss of our show and fondly recount tales of when and where and how we came to fall in love with it.
So for old times sake, given that I often come here now and see little but pollitical threads dominating the header slots, I thought it time to raise some of the old questions that stir up the Firefly juices and have us once again talking about Firefly. Which is in short the very reason we all come here. So here are some questions, conundrums and general sillyness to spark the imaginations and incite (I hope) some chit-chat.
So:
1) You find yourself in a difficult situation. Trapped in an abandoned cargo bay with the whole Alliance army positioned all around the only exit. You have some weapons and if you're quick there's a chance you could escape. But It'll take some fancy shootin'. So my question is:- Which of the Firefly crew would you like to have by your side in such a situation? You may choose only one character.
2) Serenity has had to make an emergency crash landing on a desolate heap of a planet where thankfully there is no Alliance representation. She's badly broken up and really only a genius could even hope to fly her let alone leave the atmosphere and into deep cold space, so my question is :
As captain would you decide to stay with the crew you know and love and make a go of it on a new completely alliance free planet or; -
would you order the crew to take the very big risk of trying to patch Serenity up and attempt to leave? Bear in mind this choice comes with high risk and a great chance of "Oh God, Oh God we're all going to die!".
3) You are the tenth crew member, having recently joined Serenity this is your first shore leave with the whole crew, and you've been ordered to attend a fancy shinding. There will be 'real' food, sophisticated drinks (no mudder's milk) and a fair bit of dancing. That said Mal is of course working a deal but a respectable image is to be upheld by all crew members (Jayne included) to impress the potential client. As such you realise this is your chance to shine on the dance floor and you take the opportunity to ask one of the crew to dance. Who will it be and why?
4) You're in deep space. Serenity has had a strange shut down and much of the repair work must be done on the hull - which means a space walk. It's cold dark and of course very dangerous, but strangely alluring with all them flickering twinkling stars 'n all. Everyone has to buddy up and tend to some area of the hull as a duo. Who would you like to be paired with and why?
5) You've been taken prisoner by the Alliance for looking like: "A low down dirty Browncoat!" (Alliance words not mine). They give you two options:-
a -Remain with the Alliance and aid them in their role as vanguards of the 'verse, with the alliance honouring the bargain by letting Serenity remain free agents or; -
b -Be released a free man with a ship and a crew of your own if you'll divulge the whereabouts of Serenity and her crew?
6) Shore leave again and Mal will allow you to choose who is to go with you. However you may choose only one other person because at least eight crew members must remain on board at all times ( for reasons I can't quite figure out why?!?!) But that's the way it is.
Who you going to take?
7) Ok way way in the future of Serenity and her crew, Mal and the others decides it's time to hang up their respective space spurs. However you realise you've saved up enough dough to buy Serenity from Mal and be able to afford her another crew to fly with you around the verse. My question is would you buy Serenity and keep flying with a totally new crew or would you also decide much like Mal that the romance in heistin' has gone and there's no way you could fly that boat without Mal, Zoe, Wash, Jayne, Book, Kaylee, River, Simon, and Inara
8) Mal and Inara finally get it on

1) ZOE
2) Serenity has had to make an emergency crash landing on a desolate heap of a planet where thankfully there is no Alliance representation. She's badly broken up and really only a genius could even hope to fly her let alone leave the atmosphere and into deep cold space, so my question is :

2) Take the risk. Although the crew of Serenity is my family and I love’em, being marooned on a lonely planet ( no matter how hospitable) would be a bad thing I think because;
a) It world drive Jayne crazy.
b) Wash and Zoe would become a baby making factory.
c) Simon and Kaylee would be in competition with Wash and Zoe.
d) I might find a rudder with Inara
e) River would be as crazy as Jayne, so he’d have company. ( this is pre BDM I’m thinking?)
f) Book might convert me back.
3) You are the tenth crew member, having recently joined Serenity this is your first shore leave with the whole crew, and you've been ordered to attend a fancy shinding. 3) River, she could make any dance partner that she had look good.

4) Kaylee! She could fix the problem while I look at the stars. Then we’d be back inside Serenity before anyone else drinking warm mudders milk. Sounds like a plan.
5) You've been taken prisoner by the Alliance for looking like: "A low down dirty Browncoat!" (Alliance words not mine). They give you two options:-

5) I’d DIE first before ratting my friends out on Serenity. Bring on the torture you Alliance purple bellies!!
6) Shore leave again and Mal will allow you to choose who is to go with you. However you may choose only one other person because at least eight crew members must remain on board at all times ( for reasons I can't quite figure out why?!?!) But that's the way it is.

Oh, my, what a great topic. Any of the 10 would make a great entire fanfic, let alone a post, never mind a quiz/questionaire.
This one is the easiest, As Mal, you get to make a great Haven-type speech, and give 'em all the choice, come along or stay behind, knowing the great risk and that it would be no disgrace to not be willing to chance it, but for me, and him, there'd be no choice but to go for it. I 'spect I'll answer these 10 scenarios one at a time, one question per post.

1) Is this post movie? I'd go with Book, because he could call them on some obscure bit of nonsense about their jurisdiction. If not Book, I'd go with the surprise and say Kaylee, because there's a good chance she can make the Alliance wonder why the hell they have us at gunpoint and feel super guilty. And then they'd go away. And then I'd laugh really really hard because they're dumb.
2) If I were Mal, I wouldn't risk any of them, but I'd try some suicidal scheme on my own to get money, parts, and repairs. And then Zoe would have to save my ass and slap some sense into me. Much sulking ensues. And then... alcoholism.
3) I'm not at the party. Mal locked me in the hold as a practical joke. Hun dan.
4) Simon, because he wouldn't be outside. Or possibly with Inara in the shuttles, ready to pick up anyone if they fall off. But if I HAFTA... Is grav still going? If so, then we'd have weight, so I'd partner up with someone of a similar weight so we could catch each other if one of us falls off. If not, then I'm not sure it matters.
5) Gorramit. I'd stay with the Alliance. They suck, but I hear most of them are well meaning. And the verse needs people like the crew out there, on the edge, bringing goods to folk cheaper than the ruttin' corporations.
6) Ooh, tough one. Well, depends on what we need. If we need parts, Kaylee. If there's a job to be arranged, probably Mal, he spends too much time cooped up on his ship anyway. Besides, I still need to get hilarious light-hearted revenge for the hold trick. I'm thinking something to do with hot pink hair dye.
7) Well, Serenity would probably be not this side of spaceworthy by then. Seems a shame to ground her though. I'd only buy her if Mal's gone completely senile and decides to sell her to someone else. Crew's got too many good memories.
8) Oh, GOD THE SMELL. No, I'd team up with River, who's been traumatized by the psychic sex, and deliver an ultimatum: take it planet-side, or we're jumping out the airlock sans suits.
9) Zoe can help watch over Simon, River and Kaylee to keep them safe. I'm fine staying with the crew, though we'd need a new mechanic... And a new pilot, because Mal can't fly for crap an Inara has only trained with short range shuttles.
10) Whoever warrants riffling as matters arise. Jayne's got grenades, Doc's got meds. Though I think I smelled some strawberry candy on the Shepherd the other day...

Malcolm Reynolds, of course. 2nd choice would be Jayne, who, if nowhere else, is highly competent in a firefight. But Mal has a greater, more intimate knowledge of the ship Serenity, and is better able to come up with solutions on the fly should things go south. Note: some may choose River, but this would be a contextual choice depending on the Firely/Serenity timeline. I would not argue with this choice post-Serenity (movie).

Patch Serenity and attempt to leave. Greater dramatic content, which makes this one a no-brainer.

River. I'd simply ask her to lead me during any dance, comfortable in the knowledge that she has the greatest skills in this endeavor.
Zoe. Everything I suss from Serenifly canon suggests that she grew up in deep space, thus it follows she would have the most space walk experience, and be of most use to me when the 'verse starts to go all spinny.
5) You've been taken prisoner by the Alliance for looking like: "A low down dirty Browncoat!" (Alliance words not mine). They give you two options:-
a -Remain with the Alliance and aid them in their role as vanguards of the 'verse, with the alliance honouring the bargain by letting Serenity remain free agents or; -
b -Be released a free man with a ship and a crew of your own if you'll divulge the whereabouts of Serenity and her crew?
a - remain with the Alliance. Serenity must remain free. This is a fundamental trope.
6) Shore leave again and Mal will allow you to choose who is to go with you. However you may choose only one other person because at least eight crew members must remain on board at all times ( for reasons I can't quite figure out why?!?!) But that's the way it is.
Who you going to take?
Inara. If it's a core planet, she would have the experience to be my best guide. If it's a border planet, Inara

Oddly enough, Jayne. Provided I have a way to keep him from just turning me over for immunity. Why Jayne? Three words. Our Mrs. Reynolds. He very cleanly not only disabled the net, he still managed to find time to put shots in the control room's windows. While shooting at a crazy distance with his gun in a space suit.
Oh yeah. Fancy shootin'? Call the man that names his weapons.
2) Serenity has had to make an emergency crash landing on a desolate heap of a planet where thankfully there is no Alliance representation. She's badly broken up and really only a genius could even hope to fly her let alone leave the atmosphere and into deep cold space, so my question is :

Alliance is like Reavers, they spread. Eventually they're gonna find you, and then there goes the neighborhood.
I'd order the ship patched. The crew of Serenity manages "Oh God, Oh God we're all going to die!" at least three times an episode on average. They haven't yet.
3) You are the tenth crew member, having recently joined Serenity this is your first shore leave with the whole crew, and you've been ordered to attend a fancy shinding. You specify 'tenth crew member' and also you specify 'all'.
So, working with this info, River. Why? Because I'm the newbie and I don't know better. Newbie is always the comedy relief for a while.
4) You're in deep space. Serenity has had a strange shut down and much of the repair work must be done on the hull - which means a space walk. Simon. Definitely, definitely Simon. XD Reason? Bushwhacked, of course. That look on his face... XD

I find this question slightly confusing. From what I can tell, I'm with another crew that can give them this info, but not actually with Serenity?
In that case B. Only I give them days-old information that sends them on a wild hare to all kinds of places where Serenity was, but ain't anymore.
Technically, I upheld my end of the bargain.

1) Jayne.
2)Stay put for now. There might be the opportunity to mend the ship later.
3) Jayne. He might say no, of course. But I'd ask. If he said no, I'd dance alone. Show him what he was missing :-)
4) Jayne.
5) Remain and subvert the Alliance from within, looking for my opportunity for either rescue or escape.
6) Jayne.
7) I'd buy the ship and offer the original crew the opportunity to fly with me first.
8) b) EVERY time [GGG]. We'll drown out Mal and Inara [VVVBEG].
9) Stay. Invite my Maori friends to be part of the new crew.
10) Many of the crew would detect riffling. I'll go with Wash as he's least likely to notice.
