Hospitals and sore throats. No good. I specially hate sore throats. Nasty things. All I know is plenty of liquids. Only problem here is damp and cold weather. Also Fringe prempted by baseball. We will have basketball pushing its way in as baseball finally comes to an end. At least football is kind enough to play on weekend afternoons. Probably why I prefer that sport.

Oh I love it when shows are preempted by sports/newsy things(not). But I think what bugs me more is when shows take a hiatus in the middle of the season (I think I've mentioned that before....). Burn Notice has done it twice *grumble*, Dollhouse is gone for sweeps--though I understand why--and it kind of sucks because sometimes during the interim you forget it's coming back (and like Dollhouse, if it's not frickin' advertised, you don't know *when* it's coming back).

I've only seen one ep of Fringe, think it was the third one of the first season. How is it? What's it about anyways?

We are finally discovering, in Fringe, that a race from a parallel universe are crossing over with evil intent. In between there are episodes that remind you of X-Files. I like the characters in this show. They are very human. The writers like to throw zingers from Walter. And his son is desparately trying to find some ground with a father who was locked up in a mental hospital for years. So you really have a mad scientist in Walter, but he is likable and unpredictable. If you have only seen one episode I would recommend getting the them from Nexflix so you get a proper idea of what is going on. You would be lost if you just started watching now.

Why is it on weekends when no one can help, something weird happens???

Went to the ATM to pull some coin today and it says I entered the wrong PIN. WTF??? I've been using the same PIN like forever.

Thought it might be a communications error with the ATM I was using, Went to another one, entered my pin and got the message that I put in the wrong pin... And then the Huh choo-shang tza-jiao duh tzang-huo of a machine kept my bank card!!!!

I hope I get out of work early enough to get the thing back tomorrow. I went online and reset my PIN to what it was supposed to be... Now If I can actually get my card back...

Grumble, snort, mumble....

Okay... I feel a little better now.

Actually, Traveler, weird thing. It gave me the error about four times before I gave up (Internet was being shitty again, so I thought maybe it was just a slow connection, or it kicked me off again), but the next time I posted the change showed up--even though I hadn't "successfully" put the edit through. So I guess it..somehow changed anyway even though it told me it hadn't? *shrugs* I know not how these things work, lol. So I guess the answer would be yes-ish.

Got my card back fine this morning... Tried to get cash out and now it says that it's an invalid account type. (IE Checking vs. savings)

That said, I'm pretty sure that my account has been compromised. There's only $25.99 in it at the moment and that's all there will ever be. I'm sure whomever hacked the account is waiting for me to make a deposit before trying to abscond with the money. $25.99 ain't enough worth stealing is what I'm figuring. There will be no more Deposits.

Sucks for them.

The account is through an online bank. I'll be closing the account this week and setting up one at the same local bank the Girlfriend uses.

I've been getting a plethora of Spam lately all with the same headers from different random e-mail address. All using my name in the mail header. Probably picked up a bug on my system (Despite my anti-virus and firewalls) so I'll be running Malwarebytes tonight while I'm in bed.

Speaking of which, that's where I'm heading now...

Yikes..this had ended up being an intersting day...to say the least. Morning was bad...then I posted something on another board that is going to take a bite out of my real life ass and I can't do anything about it because I was quoted. Someone with decent search skills could link my screenname with my real name. I don't think he has my name...but I can't remember if I gave it to the 911 operator or not with him standing there.

Steamer found some scary site that will stalk someone for you. It claims to just be to keep tabs on significant others, but I still say it should be pulled immediately as that is creepy and profoundly dangerous. How do they know they aren't selling the info to someone who will use it to harm the person???

So, what have you thought of HIMYM so far this season, MsA? I've enjoyed it. Though as always some jokes are hit or miss. I'm so ready for them to just reveal the mother already. It's almost like it's taken so far that nothing they do will live up to the hype. It could be someone new or old and I don't think I'd fine it all that great. Just do it and move on already.

Listening to the S1 commentaries, they said they had planned a 5 year arc. I wonder if they are still going to stick to that now that they are on year 5 and are still succesful?

I need to remember to watch S5 as I'm currently on S4 and loving it. I keep forgetting that I have a time limit on watching the S5 eps that i don't have on the others.

BTW, I adore Barney. My favorite character by far.

(Zeek and anyone else interested: on a side note - are you watching Dollhouse at all anymore? I know you don't like the show, but I'd be interested in your opinion of 'Belonging.' It made me sick to my stomach and I was close to tears. Topher broke my heart and Sierra...it was such a good ep.)

Yeah I'm still watching. The episode was better than the others this season, but I still didn't like the continuity of it. I mean the Sierra flash backs didn't even have her looking like she did when they first brought her to the dollhouse in season 1. At the very least her hair was colored differently.

Adelle and Topher were way too moral all of a sudden. I'm not even clear on what he was so upset about at the end. Nor do I understand how the dollhouse is getting away with ticking off so many clients these days. As some reviewers have said "for an organization that relies on word of mouth advertising, they sure don't keep their customers very happy." I also heard a funny one about them having a sign in the breakroom "2 engagements without a glitch".

I really feel like they started out with a really really long term plan and now they realize that the public isn't giving them that kind of time. So, instead they went the total opposite direction and are throwing major character changes at us that make no sense.

Silly me...I just went to the dollhouse page and read the ep thread. Would've answered my question pretty quickly.

I didn't feel it was a big jump in morality for Adelle. She's always been protective. Moral ambiguity aside, even the Dollhouse, in fact, is set up to protect the dolls within each engagement by monitoring stress levels, etc. If the dolls are facing stress outside of the engagement parameters, the handlers intervene. Sure, a doll could be programmed to like rough sex, and while in the meta-sense it's rape, it's not within the confines of the engagement. At the point that it whatever is happening becomes non-consensual, stress levels rise and the handlers are there to step in.

It might have felt like a big jump for Topher without having seen 'Epitaph One', but having seen that...it wasn't. It's hard to not watch informed by that ep, which is what I should do to be fair. I honestly haven't paid much attention to Topher and now want to go back to see if there are any other tipping of the cards with him.

I can't really remember Sierra's entry into the house except for them wiping her. I did question that the mapping/wiping procedures/machines have gotten a serious tech upgrade since S1...no more wires, etc. Although maybe since she was mapped already it was wipe just like any other post-engagement one.

I think after this ep, I will actually buy S1 and 2...something I wasn't going to do.

Hello Rugbug:

I'm watching Dollhouse. I get the feeling that Echo is Dorothy and she has landed in Oz and the rest of the cast are searching for something missing inside them. "If I only had a heart". I'm talking about both the Actives and the Keepers. I was surprised by Mellie's behaviour in the episode where she comes back for a check-up. It appears the Dollhouse provides more then just a large chunk of cash, but also takes all your troubles away. So I wonder if Adelle sees herself as rescuing the Actives from their past lives, both physically with money and a new start, but also having Topher removing any mental suffering they may be dealing with.
So for me, the show is getting more interesting. I also liked that Boyd helped out with Sierra. I hated his promotion and think he makes a great handler.

I haven't seen Epitaph One because I'm not going to buy the DVD set.

They didn't see any problem with Sierra during her engagements though. She was sad afterward which I would say is Topher's fault. They should have had him working harder to clear out memories when the actives were wiped. In fact that was her initial approach the first time in "Needs" (I think). Only Whiskey changed her mind. So, it's possible she's learned from that, but she still reacted very strongly for someone who seems to skate the line a lot more in every other episode. I just don't see her suddenly getting so upset over an active being sad.

I haven't seen Epitaph One because I'm not going to buy the DVD set.

I bought it through iTunes. Totally worth the $2.99.

Adelle has misgivings about the multiple engagements for Sierra, but she did allow them to continue. When she found out the truth, she tried to end it. You could feel her moral dilemma as you watched her cave to the Rossum guy. I think Adelle has always comforted herself with the idea that the actives have chosen to be dolls and that there are no lasting effects once a contract expires. Sierra never chose to be a doll, but Adelle thought she was making her life better... Sierra would also never chose to be with Kennard (sp?). I think that bothers Adelle: Sending Sierra off forever to someone she hates and who has raped her physically and mentally.

This whole ep is interesting in that it juxtaposes the Dollhouse with the rapist guy. It's totally allegory...The dollhouse and those under its employ are no better than Dr. Kennard...and yet in this ep..they are taking the moral high ground. They've just fooled themselves into thinking they're just providing a service using willing participants. The story they tell themselves so they can sleep at night just started to pull at the seams.

My biggest problem in this ep was Boyd. He was so sympathetic in S1 but more and more he's toeing the company line without questioning.

I think my problem is when Adelle called the doctor in and called him a kidnapping rapist. It's exactly like you said the dollhouse is doing that constantly. That's why I don't understand her actions. What made her flip out on this guy yet everything else they do is fine?

I can't tell what is making Topher flip out at the end. What happened after he sent Sierra out or her being a doll in general. I don't have a problem with either. So, it seems a bit strange to me. The dude clearly had it coming and Sierra clearly walked right back in and signed up knowing what goes on there. Why would he be freaking out so much?

Because he entrapped Priyah? He might as well have been holding her in his basement. Adelle firmly believes that the dolls chose their current state. She's got signed papers proving that fact. She's get November making her feel just fine about what the dollhouse does. November could even be called happy with her decision to sign herself over to the Dollhouse. In Sierra's case Adelle believes she was making her life better, making her sane.

Taking a human life,even a worthless piece of trash like that guy...and cutting up a fresh body and chemically burning it to unrecognizability (I kept thinking they needed to do a Bones crossover.:D) is nothing to scoff at. Neither Sierra nor Topher...who basically sent Priyah off to kill him, think it's nothing. Vigilantee-ism is not okay and they both know it. It's why Priyah asks for the day to be removed from her memory if she ever gets out of the dollhouse. The only way to live with that is to become callous, hardened, jaded...like your better or they deserved it (think Faith and Mayor's assitant...less clear cut evil, but still personally devasting to Faith's character). No one should play God and chose how gets to live or die.

Why did Priyah go back there in the first place? Topher freed her. She should've just left She wanted pay-back, wanted to confront her demon, show him he didn't win, that she wasn't his victim any longer. There's beauty, satisfaction and power in "winning" in this situation, but she should've known it would end badly. He'd already proven he would go way past the line to have/keep her.

Having to cut up and dispose of the body is a little brutal, but it was a necessary evil basically. They could have survived the legal process but the dollhouse would have been compromised. Like Boyd said you have to distance yourself from it and just treat it like dissecting something. Topher seems like the type who could do that. It shouldn't be something he "can't live with" though. If it was emotional at the time it's the type of thing that you'll get over after a while. So, I can't imagine that was the part that he was concerned about.

In the end I'm not sure the writers decided what he was being emotional about. I think it was just a "this has been an emotional day so let's have Topher act really worked up over it. ok go." That seems like Lost style writing to me.

He's definitely my least favorite character at this point. I'm convinced the only time he's really useful is when he's in a short term relationship that can bring a new dynamic to the group.

That's why I say just bring the wife on board. That should provide a spark for a while. Their first date, their first big fight, proposal, wedding planning, the actual wedding. All sorts of episodes in there.

Having worked with cadavers before (although I wasn't allowed to dissect...that was for the upper level students), I will say that the thought of cutting on a human body...even one that has been dead for a long time and is cold, wrapped in plastic and smelling of formaldehyde...takes some getting used to. But that could just be me. Warm, stinky and gushy? OMG I would flip.

I think it did. She'll be free once she gets out now. The guys is gone and won't bother her ever again. Topher will just wake her up with her original backup so that day won't be there anymore (unless it's left over from their awful erasing procedure) and all will be puppies and sunshine.

MsA: Horses are doing pretty good. I found someone to ride Show one day a week for me. This is good...except she's a bit strange. Have to tell her how to do something 10 times but she's supposedly been around horses since she was a kid. I have someone else lined up to ride another day so that's good.

Elf is learning how to behave himself, which is also good. He had to be moved again, though and he's way freaked out by the lettuce field behind him. Took me about five minutes last night to convince him to turn his back on it. Sigh.

Or he's just being stupid. Actually a lot of off the track Thoroughbreds aren't very spooky because they've seen all kinds of crazy during their time on the track. They are just usually "hot"...opinionated and sensitive...you ask a TB, you don't tell.

But, Elf is just being a jerk. He's not scared of the damn lettuce. I actually think he might be acting stupid because I've been carrying a whip. He was even dumber last night...although had no worries about the lettuce. He's almost acting like he thinks I'm going to beat the crap out of him. It's possible that someone got carried away with a whip on him before...but I can't say for sure.

Yep...but I was so uninspired I went out on my own. I'm such a rebel. My co-worker did as well, so I don't feel too bad. And Zeek, MsA said right from the start that she would induce labor if the baby was not ready by the 31st, so your bet still holds.
