Didn't really think of this til now, but I have been working as an extra on the Red Dawn remake in Detroit. Michigan is rebating 42% of every dollar spent in Michigan for filming. So Red Dawn has a budget of 92 million but it is really only costing them 53 and change.
Serenity only cost 39 million which would mean they could do it in Michigan for 22.62 million. What a savings.
If you go to see Red Dawn next fall you may see me as a POW in orange with a green corduroy cap on the school bus next to Isabel Lucas, one of the stars.
We can only hope and dream. Keep flying.

Give us the inside scoop!
Detroit really is a 3rd world city. Just like Robocop predicted.

Yeah, Detroit is Hollyhood. There is a huge fan who put up a fansite- reddawn2010.com which has a lot of stuff on it.
I spent the last week sitting on a bus with other prisoners but got to see a lot of the scene and even got to converse with a couple of the stars.
The plot is the same as the 84' flick but it is the Chinese and the Russians this time. The premise is different as some of the propaganda posters indicate that they have invaded to help us through our time of crisis. Hits a little to close to home with our current situation.
There is so much I could say but it would be spoilers so those who want to see or read more can go to the fansite but it is full of spoilers.
Very cool to be a part of it though. I have a call time early tomorrow and hopefully will get called back soon for the outdoor prison scene.
Bring on all the productions to Hollyhood, we're cheap and we like it that way.
