A real chance at getting new firefly epsiodes

There is a new group on facebook with the sole purpose of getting firefly back on the air and making sure that its story is at least as good as or even better than the original awsome episodes. This concept has a much higher chance of success as long as the fans get behind it with the typical slavish devoution that we are so famous for. There is already a company willing to spend time and money to both convince us this could work as well as produce it if it gains enough support.

We just have to convice them how much we want it.

Also, since this group is new we are currently looking for die hard fans to make admins and officers. Your only job will be to help spread the good word.

When our Facebook group reaches 10,000 members and for each 10,000 members after Island Planet One Productions will make a professional mock up of one of the Firefly characters.

When we reach 50,000 members they are confident that they can make this show a reality.

If browncoats can do the impossible twice and get this back on the air again then for years to come we are truly going to be remembered as mighty.

The owner of the company says he wouldn't do it unless Joss is involved. Plus, it is assumed by joining the group that you are only supporting animation if Joss is on board also.

With or without FOX'S or UNIVERSAL'S permission?

Because we must let one thing be clear here, it wouldn't be up to Joss, he doesn't own the rights. These two companies have joint rights, and since we've been fighting for Fox to bring them back since it's cancellation, and been asking Universal for a sequel since the BDM aired, and got nada out of them I don't see this happening.

I realize I sound like a cynic and non-Browncoat, but when you've been fighting since the beginning and only see a lot of what if's and get nothing but silence, it's hard keep it up. More power to you if you can, but Fox won't even put out a game of this show (even though they know there's a market for it) so I can't see them doing this. But....... I'd love to be proven wrong.

Oh, and not animation, full on made for TV movies baby.

It depends on how the contract was written. In many cases, refusing to proceed with subrights or other potential income earners is a contract breaker.

Not knowing how those contracts were written, I can't guess. I have reversion and subrights clauses in all my contracts, but those are books, not TV, and I have fair publishers.

Recording contracts are outright slavery. I hope TV is a bit better.

ETA: Also, if they are offered actual money, as opposed to being asked to front any themselves, they'll be much more amenable.

I do know for some options that the creator can buy back the rights after a certain time. That's pretty standard. Unfortunately, it's usually a decade.
