Okay, I'm officially lost.
Are you saying that HE'S saying that interracial kids of divorced parental units will be bangers?

The worst kind of oppression and discrimination is the kind that pretends to care about the people it oppresses.

I *hope* this guy is just ignorant and just needs to get a clue, but that's probably wishful thinking. It probably is some kind of effort to rally racist members of his local constituency, or a political message.

Government deciding who should and should not marry is absolutely chilling.

And THANK YOU for bringing it up. I was wondering how long it might take.

So here's my quandary: This JP *says* he's only concerned about the children, and he's worried because he says that mixed-race marriages generally don't work out, and he's worried about that...

So if I were to drop the latest figures on him from Massachusetts, where the overall divorce rate IS DROPPING since they allowed same-sex marriage, would he be convinced that same-sex marriage is GOOD for keeping people together?

Somehow, I think not.

Sure, you can argue apples-to-bears, but if he says he's concerned about marriages working out, there's some pretty solid evidence that he SHOULD at least consider allowing same-sex marriage then. But if he can't even wrap his head around mixed-race marriage (I seriously wonder if the word "Miscegenation" was ever uttered by him. Or if he even knows that word), I'm fair certain same-sex marriages would really bake his noodle.

Ya'll, Yall, Y'all are kiddin' r'ight? This guy "Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish" may have the best of intentions and just be reacting to his known universe. There may have only been a couple of these kinds of marriages in his parts and their youngins may have had a tough time fitting in. Violence may have been a way for them to react to social stigma and an unaccepting populace.

Keith is of course wrong to get in the way of love, but still, let's not judge him too harshly.

Yes, and a lot of "civil rights activists" fall to it too, some of em without meaning to.
And trying to call them out on it gets YOU slammed as a racist, often enough, bleh.

I don't think it's not one sliver their business, and be damned if imma beg permission from the Gov to have a relationship - if one isn't mature enough to handle a relationship without uncle sam playin referee, they damn well don't belong in one!

Either they legally accept em ALL, no matter how ridiculous - or they get the hell out of it, period.
