Hells, yes. I saw it twice in the theatre, and twice on a airplane. And yes, I am a very big ST fan. Even despite the plot holes.

$299. It came packed in a PlayStation 3. :)

Hey, it was my birthday... In August.

Oh, trust me - it can look better!

I didn't think it could look better than my 42" 1080i LCD - until I got a 1080i upconverting DVD player. It really DOES look better. And so does every episode of Firefly.

Part of me really, really wants to get Serenity on BluRay just because it's the first thing I watched on the big TV when I got it, AND it was the first thing I watched on the upconvert DVD player when I got THAT (and I only bought it because it was $25 on Woot.com).

I am a whore for my TV and entertainment, though. I'm running out of inputs on the damn TV at this point. I've currently got hooked up to it:

TimeWarner HD DVR w/160GB hard drive.
Philips DVD Recorder w/160GB hard drive.
RCA Home Theater system with DVD player.
Philips 1080i Upconverting DVD Player.
Sony PlayStation 2.
Sony PlayStation 3.
Nintendo Wii.

I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to talk the wife into letting me have an Xbox 360 now that they've dropped the price to match the PS3's new lower prices.

I *am* contributing to the economy - I'm just afraid I'm contributing to Japan's and China's economies more!

I would sell my soul for AV equipment if my girlfriend hadn't already taken it. I would love to be able to dedicate a room to build a home cinema, but RealLife(TM) costs too much money for that to happen at the moment. One day though, one day...
And for the record my girlfriend is more into it AV than I am, she's always looking for the next thing to buy.

Wall sockets are the biggest problem. I have so many plugs for things that when I buy something new I have to figure out which item I use the least so that I can unplug it and plug the new item in.

You already have 3 consoles and you want one more!
At least you are picking the best one now. The PS3 is great but IMO the Xbox360 has the edge because it's online side is better. Xbox Live is fantastic and I've heard that the PS3 equivalent isn't so good. But as usual with these things it probably comes down to taste.

Trust me CiA, it can look better.
Try Serenity on a 50" LCD playing on BluRay.
Not to mention BluRay has far superior sound in my opinion.

I have a Playstation 3 too. Great buy, even if it's just for the media player side of things (I do play games too). Connects to your wireless network and you can stream your music and videos from your computer, as well as look through your photos, as well as watch DVD's and BluRays. Well worth the $500 AUD (around $400 US?)

Plus...PS3 has Uncharted....I'm fairly sure the main character Nathan Drake is based on Nathan Fillion (some of his lines are very Fillionesque)...not to mention the game's soundtrack is an amazing thing, by none other than Greg Edmonson.
(Yes, I know Uncharted came out a while ago, but I only just got it, as I only just got a PS3, and have been playing it nonstop in anticipation of the sequel {also being scored by Greg!} coming out this Wednesday!)

Anyway, yes, I'm buying Star Trek on BluRay, and yes, in my opinion, BluRay is worth it. Particularly if you like the Pixar films. Wall-E looks absolutely beautiful.

Saw it in the movie theater and the Blu-Ray version has already been preordered from Amazon.

Star Trek (the original-I know, I'm ancient compared to everyone else around here) was my first SciFi series on TV and I really enjoyed the movie.

I have a Sony BR player and a 40 in Toshiba HDTV that's awesome. My daughter has an XBox 360 that we use for Netflix etc. She also can connect the PC with just a changes of wires for Hulu on the big screen.

BTW you can get a small, wireless Roku player for about $100. It streams Netflix and Amazon UnBox services to a TV rather well.

There also have been rumors for some time that Hulu would join Netfix and Amazon on the Roku but there haven't been any announcements.

It was a HARD choice for me, deciding between the PS3 and the Xbox360. And I'm not convinced I made the right choice.

But Sony dropped the price of the PS3, so I bit. And then, of course, the Xbox dropped its price as well... :(

I still haven't even tried online play.

My wife and I *do* spend too much time in front of the TV, but it is pretty much our entire entertainment budget, so we rationalize it that way. :)

The same here. I find that there are few movies that I want to pay to see in a movie theater. Most are so bad I won't even order the DVD from Netflix.

Star Trek was an exception though. A local theater has started showing the big movies in digital format but even that won't lure me unless I know the movie is good.
