How'd you pick your user/screen name?

Mine comes from my email address, which comes from my last name, Wakeman. Its also the pseudonym which I use on most websites. :)

Well, this was the first forum I ever signed up for. In a panic when I realized I had to have a name I just put down the first thing that occurred to me.
I live in eastern NC, I'm a confirmed Browncoat since I first saw the movie and ordered the DVD set that night.
I also use the variation NCB on www.fanfiction.net and at the KNTR forums. I'm Fireflyfainc on LJ but I'm thinking about making things standard there as NCB too. Any thoughts on that?

I'm an Old Guy, and I'd just become a New Browncoat.
I don't have a regular name I use to register- this is one of about 4 places I've ever bothered to register, or to revisit if it required me to register.

It's my name. Yes, not very imaginative, I grant you.
But I was a Brown long before I was a browncoat, so it

This was the second site I ever registered on. The first was an Airwolf board, where I was "Rarebutafact." But this reference would mean nothing to anyone who was not a fan of the series, so when I came here, I thought of how Mal would sometimes end a sentance in "is all."

When I first started being a 'presence' online, I had been going through a troubling time (I was a teenager, what wasn't a troubling time?) and was very into the myth and symbology of the phoenix. Since my name is Rose, which is not only a pretty powerful symbol on its own, but also a past tense of rise, I thought it fit with Phoenix quite well, and this became my semi-permanent handle. Unfortunately, it seems I wasn't the only one who had the idea, and I have several doppelgangers on the world wide web. So, sometimes, I have to come up with a variation or totally different name. On this board, PhoenixRose was available when I signed up, so hooray.
Funny side note, a few years after I started using this screen name, my aunt had a daughter. She named her Phoenix.

I came to this place after I'd just seen the BDM and I was still upset about a certain plot development that involved my favorite character. I saw a lot of posts by FollowMal at that time, so I followed her lead and signed up as SaveWash. (And no, I'm still not quite over that plot development.)
