I was thinking about the moment I realized I was hooked on Firefly. Knowing nothing about the TV series, I saw the movie first and then had to be re-educated. I really liked the movie, but there's something missing if you don't already know the characters (and even more missing if you do!). But the action and dialogue was sa-WEET! Still, I didn't realize I was hooked until I watched Serenity and Mal shot the Fed without a second thought. It was like my "shot heard round the world". I think the hostage standoff is such an overused device in TV shows, and Simon was playing it out as per usual, but Mal made it obsolete! His actions made perfect sense for his character and the situation, but I was so inured with the traditional TV scenarios that I never saw it coming. That's when I first realized Joss had me!
So that's me. When did you know?

I wasn't the Whedon fan at the start of the show I became afterwards, so it took me a couple of eps to get 'hooked'.
I'd like to say " oh, at the very first episode I watched", or to that effect, but I think it wasn't util 'OoG' that I fell in love w/ the show. It was good from the start, of course, and kept me coming back for more, but I wanna say that was 'the moment'. Then, I knew....

What hooked me in the first place, besides the whole theme, which I thought awesome from get - was one of the preview clips (obviously cut from the Dailies/Rush Track, with timer and all that rot) of the whole unification day toast scene from Train Job.
I laughed SO hard when Baldy eats the floor, cause I've been known to use that trick myself, heheheh.
What completely slew me though ?
Crow, through the engine, heck yes.
The style of it backed up by hero-who's-NOT-an-idiot thing just dynamited the pond, although Mal *does* have his occasional moments of idiocy (naked!), but who don't ?

I liked the show from the get go, but I realized I was truly hooked on it with Out of Gas. That's when I decided I had to set up two different VCRs to record it, just in case one crapped out.

I knew I was hooked on Firefly when I watched the series for the second time. When I saw the BDM once or twice, and watched the series once, I still was be a bit fuzzy on everything. By the second viewing of the series everything made much better sense for me.

It’s been a while but if I remember correctly it was the second dvd disc and “OMR” that latched onto me and I never looked back from there. A GOOD thing indeed.

I saw the movie first too and immediately ordered the DVDs. The show also struck me at that same moment, Dobson with a gun to River's head, them BLAM! Mal shoots without even breaking stride. I was hooked.

I saw the show first on SyFy. Then went to the movie. I fell in love with the concept and overall grunginess of life on the rim. No matter the technology people are still people. The good, the bad, and the ugly. ...oh yeah, and the sexeh.

This was the exact moment for me as well. It was around OoG and WS that I just didn’t want it to end.
