Browsing through the channels last night, giving my smokin' firefly dvds a much needed rest, and saw "Castle" come up. I recalled on these boards alot of castle whatwhere talk on the subject so thought to mozy on over and take a look see.
Ah Mal is in it, no wonder. Shiny to ponder he's still on the air. Problem is, his mouth was broke. It didn't work right, I mean to say. I was waitin' for the capt'n to spew out a little derelict, some of that chinglish slang I've succumb so used to, but nothin.
I didn't get down, I just figure reavers got his tongue was all. I can explain to you later how that's a comfort.

Hee!
It's actually not that bad. Not as deep as Firefly or the characters of Firefly, but still good fun.
Nathan may be playing a schmoozy socialite instead of a gruff kinda-good-guy gun-slinger, but he brings that familiar sense of comedic timing and versatile emotional range to play here.

Just another one of Mal's ancestors on Earth-That-Was. Think Mal before he was crushed in the battle scene in Firefly Episode: Serenity. Also I think Mal's homeworld Shadow was un-terraformed or nuked. That would tend to turn anybody gruff.
We know Richard Castle knows how to shoot from one episode. Also he has a browncoat. Went to a shindig in one episode. Another character said "Shindig" too.
Nathan Fillion's Castle ABC 2nd season starts Mon Sep 21 10/9c

Yes there have been a few shout outs ^_^
the mayor saying "Shindig" (ep 7) was one.
When Castle's ex-wife came to town it was "the special hell" (specifically, "a special brand of hell") Nathan said that one ;)
Castle has, on several occasions, worn a brown jacket on his shadowings of Detective Beckett.
I have to re-watch the series to remember if there are any more, but aside from that, the show is quintessential Nathan. It's Captain Hammer plus something else, and he's just hilarious. I recommend watching the entire series, before, you know, the second season comes out the Monday after next :P

A very well educated, rich ancester of Mal's, but he still can't get one particular lady to notice him. And Alex Tully of Drive is essentially Mal's ancestor too. A hard driving, bank robbing getaway driver, devoted to his wife ancestor.
