Okay, it's official. This week's episode, "Ariel," will either make or break Firefly as a television series on FOX for this season.
According to an article that appeared on Zap2It.com, the gang at Mutant Enemy are hoping to get word early next week from FOX as to the fate of Serenity and her crew. A pickup by FOX will mean the remaining "back nine" episodes will be produced that'll complete the first 22 episodes season for Joss Whedon's first sci-fi series on television.

I really love this show, but I dunno... kind of have a bad feeling about this...
What you people think are the chances for the show to have a chance to be pick up for a full season?

I have a really bad feeling about it too. I wish we could just know, but then again I don't because I think the news won't be good. I love this show so much. I even told myself going in not to get hooked because it will prolly get cancelled, but I couldn't help it. It was so much better than I thought it would be.
Warrick: You didn't have to wound that man.
Mal: Yeah, I know. It was just funny.

I don't really see any reason for optimism. I love the show and hope they pick it up, but based on the ratings, if I was a programming executive, and had to answer to my boss about why we should pick it up, I'd have nothing.

Nielsen ratings be damned, they don't exactly show what we watch, only what a select few of us watch. Firefly Will Survive! The show is too good to be cancelled and anyone who disagrees with me should actually watch the show before bad-mouthing it. That being said, there's no need to grind the axe if the sentence hasn't been carried out. Firefly lives, and will continute to.

That's a depressing article. There is no reason to believe the ratings will improve much for "Ariel." It's in the same crappy time slot.
I was really hoping they would try it in another time slot or at least air the pilot so people know what's going on. Poor planning doomed this show. I'll keep hoping until Fox announces anything official but I don't have a good feeling about it.

I suspect what FOX is looking for is whether the ratings will hold from the prior week, or better yet, improve. What they don't want is a dip.

Get crackin' if you haven't!!
Do it today, it only takes a couple of hours and $10 in stamps.
MESSAGE TO FOX: Before you make any permanent decisions, try moving the show to a different night!! I'm telling you... You have a great show on your hands but you are abusing it by running it on Friday nights!
