There have been a few threads about it .. but I can't remember where. It is a very good show. I really hope there's a second season.

When I left the UK a couple of weeks ago I had read that they are, indeed, filming a new series... I agree, it took me a little while to get into it fully, but there were aspects that engaged me from the first moments of the first episode, and I enjoyed the individual episodes and character arcs as well as the overall plot. I am longing to see what happens next!
Russell Tovey is a brilliant actor, and was hotly tipped to be in line for the next Doctor, which I know he did audition for, but I am glad we'll get to see more of his sweet werewolf character grow and deal with the consequences of his actions in a 2nd season!
Not to mention the whole vampire plan... what was it?

Yes. Very much looking forward to the second season. Sorry I couldn't find the other threads.
It just seemed that the mixture of drama and dark humor would go over very well with Firefly fans.
As Toby Whithouse mentions in his blog, it also has a sweet habit of surprising story twists, which are often sadly lacking on a lot of shows.
I think Russell Tovey is a fantastic actor and Aiden Turner manages to bring a lot of lightness to the usual sulky vampire thing--and he is very, very nice to look at.....

Yep, it was discussed in the "Other Science Fiction Series" forum.

One of the greatest supernatural series ever!

Bumping this to the top because it's been airing on BBCA for about 4 or 5 weeks now.
Great show about what "being human" really means to those who basically can't, or perhaps shouldn't, interact normally with regular people.
Speaking of monsters (vampires & werewolves), of course. Don't mean to offend anyone taking that the wrong way.
Odd thing, though. My DVR listed the first episode as #1, of course, but the next week's episode was listed as #6. Is the DVR or Dish Network scheduler just messed up? Thoughts? It all seemed to flow smoothly from #1 to #6 with no gaps in the story, so I was just wondering.

Bumping this back up to the top because I just watched what I believe to be the next to last episode of the season.
Wow! Good stuff! I don't think I've said "huh" so many times during a show.
George, of course, was hilarious and finally stood up for what's "right". I thought the ending with Lauren was pretty touching. Can't wait to see what happens next! And then I've gotta WAIT for the next season to aire on BBCA! AUGH!

Glad you're enjoying it! Its pretty damn good :) So far as waiting for BBCA .. imagine what we feel like with most American TV shows!? We're only half way through season 2 of Chuck, and didn't finish Dollhouse all that long ago. Ah, sweet revenge :P

Well, ya got me there, I suppose. I don't think it took that long for it to aire on BBCA, so perhaps I'll only have to wait until next summer.
I like the quirky underdogs, so I think George is my favorite character. Owen is a complete turd. I have a feeling that Herrick will get to him in the finale (just to stick it to Mitchell for getting away and Annie for helping him), but I could be wrong.

Hey! Glad you are enjoying the show. As far as I know there are six episodes in the first series, with a separate pilot that had George and Mitchell meeting Annie for the first time.
I am afraid that I am with Wakeupsoon on the lack of sympathy for your long wait... I have spent a fortune on American DVD boxsets so REVENGE!

There is! The second series will probably be shown on BBC 2 rather than BBC 3, which reflects its growing popularity.

Just read through the other thread. Looks like there was some worry that BBCA would chop it up to fit within the hour including commercials. Gladly, however, they're airing the entire episodes (with commercials, of course) and stretching it out to about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Hate to sound all "American" and stuff
but it makes for a LONG episode. I really do like that aspect of it, though. Seems more fulfilling somehow.

Great. Now I feel weird because I'm replying to my own posts. . .
But at any rate . . . AUGH!!!! Can't see the BH videos on the BBC site! Any suggestions? Youtube maybe?

You are not alone Ripwash!
They are all there on youtube. There are prequels for George, Annie, and Mitchell, and the video diaries of the actors and writers. Enjoy

I started watching one of the prequels with different actors playing Mitchell and Annie. They were . . . *shudder* . . . awful. Russell was great, but I couldn't finish it because of the other two. Kinda neat that they had a panel at ComicCon!

Yay a second series...I love that most British viewers appreciate good television it means we can see more of our favourites. We get being Human and other BBC productions on ABC 2 in Australia. thankfully it's a government funded channel so it's not governed by ratings.

The prequels that I am thinking of feature the same actors that are in the series. There is a pilot with different actors as Mitchell and Annie though...

Finale aired last night and it was a good 'un!
Select to view spoiler:
Loved how George stood up and did what he knew had to be done and doing it in a way where the others couldn't stop him. I was wondering if Werewolf George was trying to say "Nina" when she was looking through the door and that's why he calmed down or did he sense that she was now a lyco like himself? That wouldn't make much sense because George and Tully both said how dangerous it would be for them to be in the same room together when they transformed because they'd tear each other apart. So that's something I hope they explore next season. And will Nina become a full lyco since George was only partially transformed when he inadvertently scratched her? And what will happen to Owen now? Who was that Psychologist calling?
I've got to say that I'm really impressed with Russell Tovey (the guy who plays George). His opening scene (where he and Mitchell met) was very powerful (the whole episode was pretty powerful, actually). And he was hilarious at the Comic-Con panel I saw on Youtube).

I actually found the pilot with the original actors first, and it took me a while to get used to the Annie in the series - I liked the original actress' take on the character (not so bubbly!). The new Mitchell I think was both a better actor and they went less.... goth? with the vampires in the series.
And YAY!!!!! 2nd season!!
