Ho, hum: there is no continuity problem in Enterprise - the whole series takes place in a slightly modified time line resulting from the events of First Contact in which Cochrane and his assistant got a good look at TNG-era technology and a glimpse of a Human-dominated Federation, which could be why humanity has got a bit "ahead of itself" and is strafing against Vulcan's patronage.
The "Borg" episode, in particular, involved the Borg sphere that will have been going to crashed (ugh: I need Dr Dan Streetmentioner!) in the film.
I'd agree with you on the Klingon one though: trying to elaborate on a one-liner joke in a comedy episode of DS9 is a bad idea.

This is easy for me:
1: DS9 - Far and away the best writing of the entire franchise. Starts a bit slow, but gets great.
2: TNG - A classic of my childhood. A little cheesy in places, but still a lot of fun overall.
3: TOS - Was never a big fan of it, but recently picked up the remastered first season on BluRay, and have enjoyed it a great deal.
4: Enterprise - A good cast, and some really great episodes near the end, but it never really fiound it's footing or voice. Too much of a re-tread of what came before.
5: Voyager - I kept trying with this. I wanted to like it. But I couldn't. Every time I tried to watch, I felt like I'd wasted an hour. Blech, in a word.
Never watched the Animated series.

'Cause, really, it doesn't need to be.
There is NOTHING in Enterprise that rules out TOS.
The Borg? An UNIDENTIFIED techno-plague that provoked a shipful of victims to send a beacon message into deep space.
The Ferengi? A crew of pirates from an UNIDENTIFIED race, who were never heard from again.
Hell, if they hadn't explained the Klingons, it would've ruled out TOS. And the genengineered virus angle was speculated on (by fans) as far back as the late 1980s (the only catch being that we'd seen no evidence that Klingon genetic technology was that advanced --which was resolved right off in "Broken Bow" when a Klingon messenger was carrying sensitive data encoded in his DNA).

Late to the party as usual. So here's my picks:
1. The Original Series
The best characters. Plus without this none of the others would have followed.
2. Deep Space Nine
I really liked this although I didn't join until the late second season. I liked the darker tone and the fact that it wasn't another exploration show. Plus Garak is a fave character of mine and I have a soft spot for Ezri Dax from the final season.
3. Yoyager
This show had it's moments, on occasion, with IMO some good cliffhangers plus it featured the Borg sometimes. Tom Paris had a good arc and of course we get the excellent EMH.
4. Enterprise
Had this not been a Trek show it might have been better (with some changes). But it basically re-trod other episodes and sometimes brought in technology that we knew would appear later (in earlier series) like the holodecks. I'm not one that demands that everything stick to canon lore but why did they have to invent another Enterprise. They should have called it something else and not screw with the timeline. I liked the Doc in this show too plus Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed) was born in my home county and you gotta give credit to the local folks.
5. The Next Generation
I just couldn't get into this show. And I tried. Patrick Stewart was great, Data was great. But I just felt it was too boring. Too clinical. And forgive me for saying this if you are fans but Riker and Troi are the worst 'on/off' couple ever. Plus neither of the actors playing them could act. It would have been a blessing for them to have been involved in a transporter accident in the first episode. Must give kudos though for introducing the Borg.

I agree that Voyager suffered that problem as well, in some ways in was TNG but with the crew travelling the other the other way. Overall Voyager just sat better with me, I felt that it had something that TNG didn't. I usually looked forward to watching Voyager whereas TNG became a bit of a chore and that's why I've never seen too many, most of them have been through late night repeats.
I also felt that Voyager's crew had a slightly better feeling of family about them. TNG's seemed forced too much or not even there some of the time.
