The doors slid open and Wolf dropped through the hatch, not bothering with the ladder. He looked up into the barrels of several raised guns.
"Uh, hi cap'n, i think you may have changed your greeting habits since i was here." Wolf said nervously.
"Well, last time you didn't be jumpin' around like that!" Jayne accused Wolf "Get a guy a might jumpy is all."
Wolf smiled at that, he could still put the willies up Jayne, that was a good sign, showed he hadn't lost it all.
Wolf addressed Mal.
"Any chance of a drink?"

Mal nodded as they all went to the galley. Mal got out a bottle of some kind of liquor from one of the lockers.
"Hey! That's mine!" Jayne objected.
Mal gave him a look that told him to shut it.

OoC: Hey gang! Sorry for my absence sometimes real life comes at you all at once. I'm still planning on moving forward with the job I have planned, but this current plotline needs to be resolved first. When it is I'd like to make a small time jump to Paquin. Any objections?
John took the tea Inara had just poured and drank a sip. "It's just not fitting anymore."
Inara leaned back in her chair, but retained her grace. To an outside viewer it would look like she was entertaining a client, and maybe she sort of was. "What doesn't fit? Serenity?"
"Yeah, and other things. I just don't feel like I'm moving forward anymore. I hate that."
"You've been standing up for yourself lately. That's a huge step."
"Standing up with guns blazing. Not exactly a step away from violence, don't you think?"
"John, everytime we talk about this I remind you that the fact that you see that as a bad thing is evidence in itself that you aren't that person anymore."
"I know. I do. But then there's Kaylee."
"Does her relationship with Simon bother you?"
"Not exactly, she just doesn't seem to have time for me anymore. I mean I came to this ship to find her, but now I've lost her again. I feel so alone."
"You're not. Even if Kaylee doesn't care anymore, and she does, but even if you have me. You have River."
"Do I? Something is wrong with River. She ain't spoutin crazy so much, and that's great, but she's abusing her skills. She's meddling and it scares me to death. Am i her friend or her pawn."
"I agree that's troubling, but you can help her. You have this gift like her, and you're the only one who can even slightly relate to her. She needs you. The captain trusts you enough to let you bring two strangers onboard."
"That's another thing, Doc. Seeing her again..."
"What is your shared past? Did you fight her before you came here?"
"Once. Mostly, however, she was on my side. She helped me do what I did before I found out who she was."
"And who is she?"
"I still don't know." They heard the airlock hiss as someone boarded the ship. "I should go check it out."
"Yes, you should. Fufilling your duty on the ship will make you feel better. But don't be afraid to come back. My door is always open for you."
"I know." John left the shuttle and looked for the captain and their mysterious guest. Soon, he found them and approached a man he hadn't expected to ever see again.

Wolf gratefully accepted the drink Mal offered, poured out a small amount and downed it, shuddering at it's potency.
"Oohhh! that'll kill the belly worms and no-mistake!" he said appreciativly.
"Yeah, I know, 'coz it's mine." Jayne mumbled, a bit put out.
"sorry mate, i'll buy you some more at some point, or maybe not, it's not actually very good, i'll buy you something better." His grin widening as he spoke.
"Now, story telling, stories to tell...hmm, three major points to cover. One, shits going down, big style, like...really big style. Two..." He counted them out on his fingers. "...Two, i've got a bit of a job for you, or my current employers do in any case. they needed some work done, a little bit of support, and i thought...I know just the man!"
He shifted his weight in the seat, just as John came through the door with a remarkably shocked expression.
"Alright Johnny?" Wolf smiled at his friend before turning back to the captain. "And three, you're going to be very interested to find out who my employers are, so interested in fact once i tell you, that you'll turn this lovely ship around from whatever sordid little enterprise you're hustling at the moment to go and meet them."
He kicked his feet up onto the table, his chunky magnetised boots thudding against the cheap wood.
"So there you go peeps, not exactly spry on the details i'll grant, but thats the long and short of it, i've been told to come fetch you, 'by any means necissry' were the actual words, but i think we can dispense with that, you'll come out of interest won't you cap?"
He paused, surveying the gathered faces with a sort of self-satisfied contentment.
"'Cos i'm an interesting guy." he finished with a grin.

"I'm pretty sure we have work actually," John said. John was frustrated at yet another distraction from the job at hand
"I believe I'm captain of this boat," Mal said.
"That you are," John replied, "but you also already agreed to do this job for my brother, are you going to shirk your work?"
"Now, Wolf here came all the way out here to find us and I think we should at least hear out his pitch. So who is this job for?"

The room went silent as Mal whirled around to face Grayson.
"As far as I know, you are not part of this crew. Matter of fact, you're more like a parasite stuck on the side of my ship, so let me make this abundantly clear," Mal said slowly and with menace. "My ship is not the rutting town hall. There is no voting on my ship. You don't like it? Then you can get you and your girl and get the hell off. Dong ma?"
Grayson set his jaw and stared down the captain for a mite before Mal dismissed him and turned back to Wolf.
"I'd surely like to do that," he mumbled under his breath.

Wolf smiled at the small commotion caused by his little speech.
"If you already got a job going, i'll be happy to wait so long as i can tag along. To be perfectly honest, my work isn't exactly fun. It'll be like a holiday." He finished with a grin.

Simon left the Infirmary once his inventory was taken. Ivy was still asleep and he didn't want to wake her.
He thought back to the reason why she came to see him and chuckled. Some people just couldn't be patient. Pain and Ivy were such people. Their love was quite evident, they were happy and their physical relationship was apparently very important to them.
He decided to go up to the galley and found a meeting-like event happening. And a new, albeit familiar face, Wolf.
Interesting, Simon thought.
He saw Pain standing near the back of the room and went over to stand next to the man.
"Wolf is back?" Simon whispered to him.
"Yep," Pain answered.
"OK..." Simon acknowledged. He watched the "power play" that went on between Mal and Grayson, the man who made him nervous. Simon was hanging onto the thought that the guy couldn't be too bad if he was Ivy's friend. Ivy. That reminded him to say something to Pain.
"Oh, hey!" Simon whispered to Pain again. "I just wanted to let you know that Ivy is resting comfortably down in the infirmary. I had to give her a pain killer, but she's doing just fine."

Galley
Pain was glad to hear that Wolf was willing to wait until the crew finished this job that John's brother had for them, before going for the one he needed their assistance with. He wondered who Wolf's employers were and how he managed to find Serenity. Pain also wondered where Wolf got that ship of his.
His thoughts were dashed when the doctor had sidled up to him and asked if Wolf was back, to which he acknowledged with an affirmative, three letter, single syllable response of "Yep". The two of them watched Mal and Grayson for a bit before Pain's attention was once again distracted by the good doctor's words.

While Mal was distracting Grayson's attention for the moment with their little power struggle, Pain slipped out of the galley and into the aft hall. He checked to make sure Grayson or anyone other than the doctor wouldn't see him disappear, but he had the feeling that River had spotted him out of the corner of her eye.
Pain nevertheless made his way slowly down the stairs. Once the infirmary windows came into view, he managed a glance and saw that indeed Ivy was sleeping in the exam chair. He paused for a bit and watched as her chest moved up and down with every breath, smiling at the sight. She sure was beautiful when she was sleeping.
Infirmary
He continued down the rest of the stairs quietly, careful not to wake her up. Pain stood in the doorway for a brief moment before taking a chair and quietly placing it next to the exam chair. Sitting down, Pain's left hand took Ivy's right and gave it a gentle squeeze. He smiled as she squirmed a little. Standing up, Pain leaned down and gave her a soft kiss on her lips.
"Hey, sleepin' beauty, wake up." he whispered to her in her ear. "I came to pay you a visit."
