Ok, here is my list for favorite Trek shows:

5. DS9-arguably the best Star Trek series by some. I admit it is the most "sci-Fi" of all the Treks. I like it, I just like the traditional Trek shows better.

4. Voyager-Great show. The first 3 seasons are fantastic, unfortunately it does run out of steam. By the time the 7th season hit, this show was running on fumes.

3. Enterprise-Even with the cumbersome Xindi story arc I still like this show a whole lot. It's a shame we didn't get a seasn 5.

2. The Next Generation-Fantastic series. This series got me hooked on Trek forever. Season 7(and most of 6) was less than stellar though.

1. Original series-Absolutely perfect sci-fi. A lot of people frown on season 3 because of the budget reductions. Oddly enough I thought it was the strongest season.
/The Animated series(1973)-I rate this right along with the original show. All the original voice talent, and great stories. Picked it up at Wal-Mart for $14.96 Man, that's a good price for such a great show.

I maintain that Trek works better in prose than it ever could on screen.

1. Deep Space Nine (Of all the places/times science fiction has shown me, that gloomy Cardassian-built station is the one that most feels like "home" --sorry, Serenity. Especially once the "friendly [for now]" Jem'Hadar showed up.)

2. Starfleet Corps of Engineers (A crew of dedicated engineers and scientists [written by folks who know their engineering and science], bouncing around the galaxy, stepping in to clean up the mess after the shiny, clean, famous starships have sailed away. Plus, Fabian/Korsi is basically Wash/Zoe in Starfleet.)

3. Enterprise (T'Pol remains my favourite on-screen Trek character.)

4. New Frontier (Written by Peter David, who is probably the closest Star Trek will ever get to Joss. Captain Calhoun is a bit more deadpan than Mal, but they'd be two peas in a pod.)

5. I.K.S. Gorkon/Klingon Empire (Whatever the title is this month, these are the guys that make me want to ship out with the Klingons. Wacky fun.)

6. Titan (Especially Christopher Bennett's books --Star Trek written by people who actually know their science and do the research! Plus, Torvig is the new Data.)

7. Voyager (A lot of flaws, but it tried, and it gave us some of the best effects in all of Trek. And now, after Full Circle, it looks like it's about to get even bigger.)

8. TNG (The one I grew up with. The post-Nemesis novels have just given us a new crew that's every bit as compelling and dynamic as the ones we used to know. And I'm in love with T'Ryssa Chen.)

9. Abramsverse (Looks like fun, though I'm a bit burned out on alternate universes.)

10. TOS/TAS (Brilliant for its time, but hobbled by its medium.)

I don't know that I've ever seen all of the episodes of any of the Trek series. Huh. Well, from favorite series to least favorite, here they are:

I'm not going to get into specifics about what I like or don't like about the various series, I'm just going to rate them.

1. Original Series
2. DS9
3. TNG
4. Voyager
5. Enterprise

It's possible I might be persuaded to admit that DS9 is superior to TOS, but I'm sort of sentimental about that one since it started it all and I was there at the beginning.

TOS ( it started it all )
DS9 - politics , religion , multi-season arcs and incredible character growth .
Next Gen - while at times beyond lame , some eps are simply brilliant
Voyager - largely meh , but Seven of Nine is a treasure equal to Data
Enterprise - misfire on so many levels which was a shame as the cast was very good

Of course the new film kicked serious ass and I look forward to more from the "new" crew .

Admiral, we were in complete agreement up until that last sentence. Hated JJ's Trek, and I rarely use the hate word for something as inconsequential as a movie.

Enterprise. I would have to agree with Digby "misfire on so many levels which was a shame as the cast was very good"

Saw little of Enterprise so that may be unfair, but it didn't "catch" me, just as Dollhouse didn't, so I didn't pursue it. But I thought Voyager was excellent and I didn't much care for DS9.

1. Original series.

That's it. It's the only one that matters.

Oh, okay, I'll play along, even though I didn't watch the others regularly.

2. The Next Generation.

3. Deep Space Nine.

4. Voyager.

That's the only ones I've ever watched. And apparently, that's a good thing.

1. TOS - You gotta give props where props are due. There was nothing even close to it for its time.

2. TNG - The series that gave us Picard and Data - 'nuf said

3. DS9 - Best for over all arc of a story - some say that this was because they were copying JMS' B5. Regardless, we all benefitted.

4. Enterprise / Voyager - tie. I won't go into the reasons in depth, but seemed to each have a few good characters set in stories that are more often flawed than engaging.

In general the series, in each new incarnation, began to take itself more and more seriously. As it did, I gave it less and less slack for sloppy story structure and campiness. It is amazing the power of a laugh!
