Hmmm...went to my profile and to "edit profile"--cannot find a button for "notify me". That's what I was looking for.
As to the other, I want to be able to post, then get back to the same thread I posted in. Right now all I know to do is click on "community" and go from back there. Does that make sense?
Oh, shoot! I tried to edit my post to put a tag line in and erase my "home page"--I don't want that out there, given the problems I ran into before. Why isn't it updating?

I've lurked at the OB on occasion, but never wanted to participate. The replies to newbies I read were often cruel. It always struck me as odd that some of the feelings of family and togetherness engendered by Joss's work could attract such an opposition in other people. I hope that this helps others understand that what they may be attracted to in the Whedonverse is something they are missing in their lives, that consideration, courtesy and respect has to be practiced to be meaningful. We're all here to learn something, and help each other through. Just not through the "dark side".

Niki, I'm not sure what problem you're having in returning to a particular thread. When I post a reply it automatically jumps to my post at the end of that thread, then I just click the "home" link to get back to the mainpage. From there you can see the latest fifteen threads from the various forums. To get back to any forum use the links on the right side of the page underneath the "News Headlines" box.
As for getting notice about replies, look for the "Your Options" underneath the message field when you are composing a post. The options are "Include signature with my post," "Notify me when someone responds to my comment" and "Override notification."
I assume you have an email address on file from when you registered here, so notices will be sent there.

Yes, Gordon, I've done that. No e-mails, and I only have one e-mail address. I've also had no luck trying to edit my profile and my signature doesn't show up in my posts. Must be doing something wrong!

That's exactly my opinion. It takes little effort to at least be civil, and that's all I ask of anyone. Even snarking is okay, as long as it doesn't become a vendetta or too ugly. And the fact that we're all supposedly Browncoats who came together to be with other Browncoats, especially given Nathan's opinion on the matter, mystified me.
Bookreader, would you do me the courtesy of telling me who you are on the OB, so that I know who I'm dealing with. I'm not spreading falsehoods; I suppose I should caveat what I say with "that was how I saw it", because it is.
If you saw things differently than I did, I'll accept that we disagree, and hope we can leave it at that. I want no more than to go from here. I respect your views are different from mine.

I find that posting in RWED doesn't do much for my peace of mind, nor does it bring out the better aspects of my personality. So unless a gross misuse of science pushes me over the edge (cough*cough*evolutiondebate*cough*) I'm generally happier keeping my distance.

Yes; as I said, I DID that. I leave it that way with every post. No e-mails (if that's the way for notification?). Obviously something is wrong, as I've tried to edit my profile and add a tag line and that hasn't worked either. I'll work it out eventually. Thanx for the help.
