lesson I have learned the hard way: when people are angling for comments on the way they look, if you don't want to lie, say something nice or refuse to comment. I find it's safest to say something that reflects the effort they've made has been worhtwhile...I am a woman and I find it tedious to go shopping with friends who are insecure about their looks....they want you to tell them that what they have put on somehow has transformed them into a whole new person...It makes being honest a near crime sometimes.
E.g. gorgeous but largely proportioned friend tried on a top recently:
" how does it look"
"It looks great, I love that colour on you"
"It's not too tight?"
"Um, it's supposed to be tight...it's a tight top"
"does it make me look fat"
"I like it, I like the way it looks on you...It doesn't change your proprtions at all"
"Do I look fat?"
"I'm waiting outside"
I personally do not have weightest biases...I refuse to be drawn in to stupidity of it.
