I'm a refugee from the "OB" (the original Firefly forum board put up and still maintained by Fox). Looking for another home.
I feel heartened by the above "I love freedom of speech just as much as you, but I hope that you will post messages that are at least somewhat civil and in good taste." quote...and am hoping that means this is a safe place? I'd love to meet others who appreciated Firefly as much as I did, have no problem with a good civil debate and can tease along with the best of them.
Is this a safe place? If so, may I join you all?

As for staying out of RWED, I'm reminded of the movie "2010":

I won't tell ANYONE to attempt no landing in RWED; I'd just say that before jumping in, lurk for a while and watch. Have a point of view, and get ready to defend it against all sides. As one of the longtime members often points out, you can learn an awful lot about people by just asking the same question of them: "And why do you believe that?"
So, that warning given, I'd just say this:
Jump in! The water's fine - although there ARE sharks in it.

I already like you, Mike; jumped in down there and liked what you said. I thank you for the idea of inquiring why someone feels a certain way, that will help IMMENSELY and I'll remember it.
And yeah, I saw the emoticons...and will explore further. You couldn't put up a photo or anything else over there, and I'm an emoticonaholic, so I'll enjoy it here! Emoticons and photos and color and stuff make it fun...
