Fox just announced they have picked up both JOHN DOE and FASTLANE for the entire season. No word yet on FIREFLY.

fastlane is picked up and firefly will probably get cancelled.
Fastlane is nice to look at, but absolutely no depth. John Doe, well I think we all know that writing/acting on John Doe aren't up Firefly standards. So yes of course *they* are the ones to get picked up for the season while Firefly hovers in limbo driving the fans crazy with suspense. I wish we could know already.
Warrick: You didn't have to wound that man.
Mal: Yeah, I know. It was just funny.

The ratings show it, John Doe earned the full season pickup.
As for Fastlane, I'm sure the fact that McG has been signed to develop another series (The O.C.) for FOX probably has something to do with Fastlane's pickup.
News about Firefly should come soon as well. I'm not too sure what the date is, but there's a production schedule to keep. If there is an announcement at all, it'll probably come before that date when the remaining episodes need to go into production.

I read somewhere around here recently that Fast Lane wasn't doing very well and might get cancelled. There was even speculation about Firefly moving to its time slot after it's gone. So wouldn't its survival be good news?
Then again, I've heard both that Fox has no mid-season replacements ready to go, and that they have plenty that they really like...

Actually that's not true. FOX has the dramas "Keen Eddie" and "Septuplets" not to mention comedies "Oliver Beene," "The Grubbs," "Wanda at Large" and "The Pitts," and of course "American Idol 2."
