Well won't be next year, as i will be moving early in the year, but i'm hopefull for the year after

I am testing for my 3rd Dan black belt on Saturday & need to demonstrate that I can defend myself. TPTB were non specific as to how. I decided that baseball bats were common & could put a serious hurt on a fella, so I set about figuring ways to avoid gettin' whacked.
My daughter (17, will test for 3rd Dan in a year) launches random attacks now & I do very well. Adult men still worry me a bit, (because mistakes have /serious/ consequences), so for them I specify which attacks to use.
I have to say, having a 250# man swinging at you with intent is not for the untrained nor the faint of heart.

LOL It certainly seemed that way initially!
The first few sessions were pretty short.
We agree that it's time to train, she picks up the bat, doesn't tell me where she's going to hit me, and starts swinging.
All sessions would end when I received a serious thump (numbed, really painful or partially unresponsive limb, wind knocked out of me, or a blow to the head).
Good times... good times.
