*Wolf could see the ships weapons systems powering up and a lump formed in his throat.*

Wolf "uh, i'm not usually one to pry but i can't help but wonder why there's an alliance officer on board, let alone an alliance ship plugged into serenitys bottom 'lock. is Mr.Reynalds in some kind of trouble officer?"

*Wolf slowly put his hand-gun back into its holster as his English accent stammered over the com at Grayson.*

Grayson kept his cool.

"Please identify yourself or action will be taken," he said authoritatively.

He looked over at Pain.

"Do you know this person? He seems to know your Captain by name."

"I do." replied Pain as he looked out at the person in the spacesuit. He couldn't see Wolf's face through the spacesuit's shielded visor, but he recognized the voice.

"Probably." replied Pain as he took the comm in his hand. "But I'm sure he has his reasons for not doin' so, whatever they may be."

He flipped the comm back on and said to Wolf into it, "Wolfie? That you, buddy? Long time, no see. How come you didn't wave us and let us know that you were comin' for a visit? Would of saved the captain and crew a whole mess of worry if'n you did that instead of showin' up and dockin' unexpectedly."

He waited a beat and then continued, "I suppose you're wonderin' why I'm onboard an Allied law enforcement vessel and why there's a Fed onboard. Well the short version of that would be, he's a friend of my current girlfriend and he's just payin' her a visit. I'd be more than happy to tell you the full version once you tell Mal it's you and we're all back inside Serenity. But first, why don't you give Mr. Lawman here a good explanation of why you're here, so he doesn't blow you away and ask questions later."

Wolf "fair point, like as yours my tawdry little tale is best received over a cup of something liquidy that makes your belly warm.
how about we go inside first, i can leave guns an the like on my ship if the lawmans got a problem with 'em?"

*Wolf glanced nervously at the still powered weapons on the Feds ship, his bio-signs on his ship/suit interface were almost at heart-attack levels.
He flicked off the tiny monitor and tried to ignore the hammer pounding at the inside of his rib-cage.*

Over the comm of Grayson's ship.

"Sounds good to me, Wolf." replied Pain into the comm. He clicked it off and turned to Grayson to ask, "How does that sound to you, Grayson? Shiny enough for you?"

"It's acceptable." replied Grayson.

Pain gave the man a short smile before clicking the comm back on and saying to Wolf, "The lawman says it's good with him too. He should be powerin' down his weapons now. See you onboard shortly, Wolfie."

Pain let go of the comm button and looked at Grayson again. The man looked back at him, his facial expression unmoving. Pain cocked an eyebrow and gestured to the control panel.

"Well? You powerin' down weapons or not?" Pain asked.

There was a short moment as Grayson stared back at Pain, before the lawman turned his gaze to the control panel and powered down his ship's weapons. Pain watched as a screen flashed that the fact that they were fully powered down and sat back in his seat.

As Grayson maneuvered his ship to the airlock he had it originally docked to, he said to Pain as he looked out the windscreen, "He better be unarmed like he says he will. I won't tolerate any surprise, you got that?"

"I got it." answered Pain, setting the comm back into its craddle. As he unbuckled himself from the seat he was in and got up, Pain said to Grayson as he started to head to the airlock door, "You don't have to worry about Wolf, Grayson. He won't try to pull anythin' foolish. He's not like that, trust me."

"Yeah," Grayson muttered as he opened the airlock and stepped through. "Cause a guy who decides to sneak onto a ship instead of simply waving you sounds real trusting."

Assuming that Pain was right behind him, Grayson walked with purpose up the catwalk stairs, reaching for his gun, which wasn't there.

"And I have got to get my gun back from that yú wàng Captain," he continued. "I should have picked up a spare weapon from the ship."

He set his jaw and went to look for the area where this Wolf person should be entering.

Wolf finished stowing his weapons and looked around his little ship, there really wsn't much too it, but he'd miss the old girl. They'd been through a lot these past months and he was reticent about leaving her comforting bounds for the uncertain hospitality of Serenity. he took a last look around, picked up his bag, and made his way out of his ship, the INS Individual.

"There's always next time." remarked Pain, giving the lawman a smile as he shot Pain a look.

The Captain spotted the two men and asked Pain, "So have you identified the tick that's decided to hitch itself to Serenity?"

"Yeah." replied Pain. "It's Wolf. After a little talkin' to.." He gave Grayson a look before turning back to Mal and continuing, "we decided to let him come aboard, unarmed mind you, and tell us why he's here and why he didn't wave us."

"Wolfie?" Mal asked, surprised to hear the old crew member's name. "Haven't seen him in ages. Thought he done got himself killed. Well now, I'm guessin' the Wolf has come back to the pack so to speak. Lets go meet up with him and see what all this is about."

The three men went over to the airlock that Wolf's ship was docked to. They were accompanied by Jayne and Zoe. Jayne gave Grayson a sneer, but didn't say anything to the lawman as he saddled up to Pain.

"Thought you might be needin' this." Jayne half whispered, unholstering a gun from behind his back and giving it to Pain. "Didn't reckon the lawman would've let you aboard his ship if'n you were armed. Might be useful if'n ol' Wolfie ain't his ol' self and decides to go crazy."

"Thanks, but I don't think it'll be necessary." replied Pain, sticking the gun in his waistband behind his back.

"Better safe than sorry." Jayne responded as they waited outside the airlock with the others.
