Can someone help me tell this person not to inline FFF.NET images?

The request was written so nicely that the guy probably doesn't know what you are referring to ......

How about: "Bitte, kein hotlinking zu Bilder an die Fireflyfans.net website - wie die random images am oben links ".

"Please, no hotlinking to pictures from fireflyfans.net - like the random images at the top, left." Not really that nasty - but pretty clear imo.

Sounds nasty. I like it!

Seems like he's already fixed the random image in the upper left corner - the properties now refer to his own site: www.runner.ch/firefly/random/

I recommend using Succatash's idea, since I've actually seen his computer at work... and it does what he says it does, not like mine, which is a little piece of go-se.

if this is still a topic I'm glad to help. I'm german so I won't need babelfish to talk to that guy.

SUCCATASH's massage is so supersweet in german he will either not understand what the problem is or he will think it's ironic and really a BAD flame. we germans (and the swiss are somewhat the same) tend to be more to the point and less sugarcoated. the second message sounds reasonable. we don't easily take offence, be nice (put a please in there somewhere) but there's no need to be very polite, just say what you want. we're somehow just the opposit to the japanese, they tend to be even more polite than the english/americans.

should I email him? or is there already a communication established?

as far as I could see the pictures on his site seem now to be hosted on his server, but I didn't check them all. he probably doesn't know all that much about webdesign and just wanted to make a Firefly site for the german speaking. the texts on his site sound translated too. not babelfish though, translated by a person.

Idefix, thanks for the offer to help. Meretean says at least some of the images have been changed, so it looks like the message got through.

As I wrote above, I already emailed him yesterday evening (that is yesterday evening EEST, 13 hours ahead of whatever time this board shows), he hasn't answered yet though... my email was:
>>
moin.
Hab mir gerade deine Firefly-site angeschaut.
Keep flyin'
<<
basically just that taking the pictures directly from Fireflyfans.net steals bandwidth...
I agree with Idefix, I would probably not have understood Succatash's message if I had not known what it is about.
btw, Idefix, where are you from?

Then should I be as bold to assume that the font "Helvetica" is related to Switzerland somehow?

I suppose you could, but that would prolly make as much sense as saying that Rome (and the defunct Latin language) has something to do with Mexico and people in South America in general (Latinos...)

I'm reasonably certain the Helvetica typeface was developed by Herman Zapf, and I believe he was Swiss.
