The actress Roseanne Barr said in her blog that she had been asked to call Jackson to discuss relaxation techniques.

She also described him as a long-term drug addict. “I was given his cellphone number the night before he died and asked to call him and I didn’t, I was too afraid — I thought I would wait until shabbat [the sabbath] to call him and then he was dead. He wanted to know about meditation,” she wrote. Sending her best wishes to Jackson’s three children, she added: “Their dad was a drug addict for many, many years. What makes a drug addict is someone who has too much pain in the memory banks.”

A 2004 police document, obtained by CNN, alleges that at one point Jackson was taking up to 40 pills a night of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

"He was surrounded by a bad circle," she told the Mail on Sunday. "Michael was a very meek, quiet, loving person. People took advantage of that. People fought to be close to him, people who weren't always on his side.

"Michael was worth more than a billion dollars. When anyone is worth that much money, there are always greedy people around them. I believe Michael was murdered, I felt that from the start," she added. "Not just one person was involved, rather it was a conspiracy of people."

Jackson was the "loneliest man in the world" with no real friends and isolated from his family at the time of his death - less than 12 hours after completing a rehearsal for his tour, she said.

His sister revealed he was not found in bed but in the bedroom of his physician Dr Conrad Murray and said he had an intravenous drip stand and oxygen canisters in his room.

TMZ, citing "multiple" law enforcement sources, said "the evidence points to the anesthesia Propofol as the primary cause of Jackson's death."

Law enforcement sources told TMZ there was already "plenty of powerful evidence" pointing to Murray, 51, as the person who administered the drug, whose brand name is Diprivan, to the "King of Pop."

Perhaps Michael Jackson had to be beaten into taking the anesthesia?

Will it be more shattering to Michael Jackson fans if their idol has been murdered than if he simply fatally fucked himself up taking too many different pharmaceuticals in one hit?

Which is worse? For your hero to have killed himself on the even of his great comeback? Or for your hero to have been killed because he was worth more dead than alive?

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) issued a statement claiming Jackson "has an anti-Semitic streak." Abraham Foxman, national director of the ADL, said "every time he has a problem in his life, he blames the Jews". Foxman referred to a similar incident with Jackson in 1995, when he wrote a song titled "They don't care about us" that included anti-Semitic stereotypes. Jackson later apologized for the lyrics and removed them from the song.

"It is sad that Jackson is infected with classically stereotypical ideas of Jews as all-powerful, money-grabbing and manipulative," said Foxman. He called on Michael Jackson to acknowledge the hatred in his words and show his fans that he rejected bigotry.

Financial problems have prompted murray to resume his cardiology practice in Texas.

Murray is the focus of a Los Angeles police investigation which is expected to go into 2010.

He denies wrongdoing.

Murray reportedly had several judgments against him relating to unpaid bills.

He was in court last week in a child support case involving missed payments where he reached a deal that kept him out of jail.

He left his practice last spring to work with Jackson, where he was paid roughly $150,000 a month.

Murray's lawyer says he'll continue to work at his clinics as he waits for a decision about an arrest.
