Hands of Blue costume/prop help

So here I was, watching Ariel for nostalgia's sake, see the creepy blue-gloved men and thought, "Hey I can dress up as one of them at an upcoming convention!" Relatively easy costume to put together and comfortable enough. Suit isn't hard to do, neither are gloves. However, I did have two questions that I'd appreciate input in:

1) Do their shirts look more light gray to you all, or more light blue?

2) How would I go about constructing their device of auditory doom? Sure, I could walk around Home Depot for a few hours until something hits me, but if anyone's made them before, I'd appreciate some pointers.

Still listening for thoughts on their shirt color though. I've watched their scenes over and over, and it looks like a light gray, and it bothers me that some of the costumes I've seen on Yahoo/Google image searches have people in white shirts

8 - I'd say they were a gray rather than blue.

And a friend of mine used glow bracelets to make a low-cost death device that turned out really neat. She covered both ends of the glow stick with tape or foil, then fashioned a box for the middle. Looked pretty cool.

As an update, I ended up making that prop on my own. Cost me around $10, most of which went to the paint I bought from a hobby/crafts store.

The main point I wanted to make was that the King of Swords site should not be relied upon for your purchases. I placed an order over a month prior to when I needed it and never received it. I kept getting one kind of turn around answer or another. It's now been nearly 2 months, I've asked for a refund and still haven't gotten it back. Please be weary and spread the news if you can, since there are a few Firefly related items for sale on that site.

Quite common on TV and video, and some movies: cameramen and cinematographers hate pure white- it reflects too much light, has to be compensated for too much, causes problems showing other colors correctly. So costume designers will often use the lightest shade of blue , or sometimes gray, for the same use. TV anchormen almost always wear light blue shirts. Possibly the same thing was going on here , Shawna using a light shade to represent white...
