So I tried a MaiTai and a Blue Hawaii for the first time over the weekend. Tasty.

I also found the elusive Mango Daqiuri! Someone had given the hostess a box of mangoes and she whirled up an amazing thing. It was even better than I'd hoped.

IT LIVES!!!

I will now return you to your regularly scheduled lurking and not being here.

I need to go clean house and apply for more jobs.

I WILL find another job, soonish. For now I am enjoying the day off from the one I have.

The black raspberries are beginning to ripen, and should be abundant. Mmmm... berry pie in February. Thank you miracle of freezers!

Called the electrician, ran out for chicken feed and straw bales, worked in the yard, did laundry, did dishes, dealt with a backlog of eggs, watched Reclaiming the Sword on Netflix, did a little drumming, picked berries,decided against a nap, more yard stuff, made mushroom tempura for dinner (peaches and strawberries to round it out as the salad had gone unexpectedly slimy), ran out to the dollar store for invites to boychild's 10th and serendipitously found an entire display of luau c**p right at the entrance(! = tropical theme by request), came home and made soy smoothies, and am trying to get child into the shower and off to bed.

Why does it feel like I've done a lot and yet gotten absolutely nothing accomplished at the same time?

Oh well!

Yeppers... been kinda slow.

Barkeep, a tall frosty one please.

Work has been squirly lately with the crappy weather. Last week, only worked 7 hours. Got canceled for the next day because it was supposed to rain and it was the only day with sun all week... Go figure.

Anyway, the switched the ole' schedule around again and now I work Wednesday and Friday (this week anywho). only got 4 1/2 hours yesterday and at least tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. Might be nice if I could actually get 8 hours...

Thank god my unemployment is still good through august...

And on to better news, I am buying a much nicer car. One that will allow me to not have to beg rides from Rallem to get to Shindigs

And once I have the car keys in my grubby hands, I gotta order some cool stickers for it from Artcat...

Whoops... Gotta go check the roast in the crockpot....

Yup Lemon Icebox Pie- traditional southern recipe

Make a graham cracker crust first( 2 cups crushed graham crackers 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup powdered sugar mixed and pressed into pie plate)
The in a bowl separate 3 eggs ( put whites in mixer ) then beat egg yolks, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 2 tbs lemon zest ( grated lemon rind ... avoid the white part of the rind) mix well. Beat the whites into fluffy peaks and fold into the lemon mix. Put gently into piecrust. Bake 325 for 7 minutes then chill in fridge for at least 2 hours... ENJOY

Makes a fluffy, light tart/sweet lemony pie:)

Oh Zero! I cannot believe I am not going to make it this year!! You'll be there and it would have been my big opportunity to meet up with you!

I will just have to pull out all stops to be there next year!! You will love it, by the way! There is nothing to be nervous about... except being glomped a lot! I loved my first time in 2007, it's like this huge reunion with people you've never stood in the same room as before!! I will never, ever forget being glomped by Rose in the foyer of the Hyatt that first afternoon!

The guests, the panels, the stuff that is all advertised is all wonderful, but it's the online friends that make D*C so special! I love my browncoat family so much! I have friends who are more like sisters and brothers to me whom I met on this very board! Heck! I first met my man on Fireflyfans!!!

Talking of whom, he is in the next room so I had better stop being antisocial - order a Baileys over icecream to go, and spend some quality time with my 'Naughtyman'!!

As for the shut up, one of my fondest memories from my first D*C ( '07 like Magda) is of all of us piled in a room and ABMichael insisting we could keep talking as it wasn't bothering Navy and all of a sudden Navy's head lifts about 3 inches off the bed and without opening an eye or moving a muscle ( except his mouth) he says " SHUT IT" and then drops his head down and goes right back to sleep...still makes me giggle

I feel like I died. Been helping at a primary school for the past 2 weeks. In year one .. 5/6 year olds. Whyyyy? Today I had to deal with: 1 bully, 1 fight, 4 pushings over, 3 two-faced Reception girls (they were 4 & 5!) and a nose bleed; all within a 20 minute slot.

I need a drink.

I'm alright MsA but been crazy @ work, I'm drowning in maths but I do have a week of holiday coming up and me and other half are off to a holiday cottage for a week then staying at her sis' place for the weekend so away a lot, which is going to be great as long as I don't have to take too much maths work so better get on.

I'll be back later, random thought, I wish I could do or type the laugh from ZZ Top's la grange

Worse? That's worrying since I've recently decided to make it MY world too .. I've spent the last decade adamant that I wouldn't be a teacher, and then last month I got to thinking, && I've now decided to teach Key Stage 2 (Ages 7 - 11). My main reason (other than the fact I've realised that I would enjoy teaching, and I've tutored before and been good at it, and I'm good with kids) is that my chosen profession is one of the hardest industries in the world to do well in .. Music Production. I'd end up living on the street purely because its impossible to get the right experience for it anywhere! Oh, and I've chosen Key Stage 2 because I always end up wanting to throttle the Key Stage 1 kids (4 - 7) ...

-hands tex pancakes and root beer before grabbing a root beer for herself-

News for the day: I have apparently fallen in love with German metal (first Rammstein, now E Nomine), which kinda surprises me but then again I'm full of surprises

Tip of the day: Putting half a cup of brown sugar into pancakes makes them TEH AWESOMENESS! They don't even need syrup, really (and this is coming from someone who slathers pancakes in syrup as a matter of course)..

Lesson of the day: Brown sugar is just plain awesome, it even tastes better than white sugar by itself (took some brown sugar instead of plain old white for my hiccups earlier )

Okayies, I think we're covered!

(I'm ing so much because dad finally went grocery shopping! WE HAVE FOOD IN THE HOUSE NOW YAYYY!!!)
