Hey guys I don't if this is true or not or if any of you guys already talked about this but I read this just now on Wiki
"FOX remastered the complete series in 1080i hi-definition for broadcast on Universal HD, which began in April 2008. The series was re-released on Blu-ray Disc on November 11, 2008, comprising three discs; exclusive extras to the Blu-ray release include extra audio commentary from Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Ron Glass for the episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds", as well as an additional featurette, "Firefly" Reunion: Lunch with Joss, Nathan, Alan and Ron,
On March 12, 2009, the series was the winner of the first annual Hulu awards in the category "Shows We'd Bring Back"."
In the last bit where FireFly won award in category of 'Shows We'd Bring Back' is this just a random award or does it have some effect?
Also is FOX finally realising what a big mistake they made from the extreme sales of FireFly that they had it made in HD and Blu-ray?
I also found this just now from tvbythenumbers
"Firefly: Would FOX or NBC Be Willing To Bring It Back?
Posted on 29 May 2009 by Nick C
While speaking with some people over the last few weeks there has been a lot of chatter about FIREFLY. There are those who think FIREFLY is the only reason DOLLHOUSE was renewed (not true, but everyone is entitled to their opinion) because FOX didn’t want another FIREFLY disaster (basically the DVD set selling in outrageously large numbers that proved the series was canceled prematurely, and treated horribly). I kept saying “If that was the only reason, they’d just bring FIREFLY back, and pull a FAMILY GUY.”
Is that realistic? Well lets first consider the fact that DOLLHOUSE was renewed for multiple reasons and FIREFLY was likely in the back of their minds. However Eliza Dushku & Joss along with the rest of the cast and crew provided a lot of good reasons for renewing the show during the 2nd half of season one. DOLLHOUSE was renewed for a lot of reasons and FIREFLY wasn’t a big part of it. However that doesn’t mean that FOX wouldn’t like to bring it back.
Would they? Yes. I think from my talks with the people running FOX that they would bring it back under the right circumstances. However, you must understand that right now Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Morena Baccarin, and Alan Tudyk (plus he was killed in SERENITY) all have gigs for the foreseeable future. However don’t underestimate the power of a movie. FOX could likely be easily talked into a Movie or two for next season. They could air after an NFL game or playoff game. The movies would easily sell on DVD.
The question now falls into rights, but the guys at FOX wouldn’t be alone. If Universal is now in possession of future rights to projects, NBC or USA wouldn’t mind getting in on the cash opportunity either. A couple movies shot and made for TV and then released on DVD would be profitable for anyone involved. At the same time the cast would still be able to keep doing their normal gigs. Just shoot the movie around their schedules"

One can but hope.
Which is kinda the whole point of this site.

I've seen articles like this all over the place. If there's a ton of rumors out there you gotta think some network, maybe even FOX is seriously contemplating bringing firefly back, which in my book is good news.

Guess mine is not the first heart broken,
my eyes are not the first to cry.
I'm not the first to know,
there's just no gettin' over you.
Hello, I'm just a fool who's willing
to sit around and wait for you
But baby can't you see,
there's nothin' else for me to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you
But now there's nowhere to hide,
since you pushed my love aside
I'm not in my head,
hopelessly devoted to you
My head is saying "Fool, forget him",
my heart is saying "Don't let go"
Hold on to the end,
that's what I intend to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you

well i really do hope this is like a 'How I Met Your Mother' moment when they cancelled the show a few years back because of bad rating and now its such a big hit...
I hope what they are thinking is FireFly was ahead of its time and going to bring it back in a few years i.e NOW...its been 7
Or if their plan from the begining is to pull a dead rapper and cancel the show to make money off DVD then they are just...
Incase some of you guys don't understand what I mean, the really rich rappers are the dead one's ie. Tupac. people only appreciate once something is gone and thats a good selling point..damn F*X

if most cast members are busy with other projects, or "dead" bringing back the series would be hard. but tv movies would be great. work around the scheduals, and they could take place before serenity, meaning alan could still be in it. i would be all up for that. or maybe a miniseries, like tin man, 6 hours or so to tell a neat story or two. i would love it. i am keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

I can't help but feel that it might be a few years, but we'll get something live action in the not too distant future. Think of all the many shows and movies which have gotten a sequel or continuation. It may take 5 years, but I feel like one day, someone will wake up and realize how much money they've made on the DVDs and how much money they're missing out on.
I think the likelihood only increases with the success of the cast in other series, especially Nathan.

You said a mouthful brother!
My guess is that all the buzz about Firefly is this:
Because of Nathan's success on several TV shows (TGAGAAPP, Firefly, Desparate Housewives and Castle); movies Waitress and Serenity. Adam's Chuck and Summer's TSCC, among others, word has spread quickly as to their talent.
A couple of years back they were virtually unknown. Now their names are household and getting more popular everyday (remember Summer's guest cameo on TBBT). Alan's work in Knight's Tale was memorable and Adam's work in Chuck has been solid. When people sit up and take notice of our guys they want to know what else they were in.
So quite naturally the important people that make these decisions will see that FF was a well-crafted show and ask the question we've been asking for the last 7 years - why was this show cancelled?
If they can bring back Family Guy, then why not Firfefly, even in mini-series format.
One can hope.

hi, i haven't posted forever but i've been watchin the episodes on hulu lately and watchin my dvd of the movie, i really like firefly also.
ironic as it is i like CHUCK and The sarah connor chronicles too, too bad sarah was canceled on may 18th though. i really dont understand Fox network at all sometimes. i'm just glad chuck is coming back for a 3rd season.
i wonder what summer glau is doing for projects now, i should do a google on her, see whats up, look at her stuff on imdb.
i would hope that firefly sometime in the future could be revitalized like how scifi channel did to stargate franchise, "i know they did the movie first but , theres no reason scifi channel couldn't do that again for firefly"
look how successful they've made battlestar galactica, even though they made a starbuck a chick lol.
seems like good scifi is in short supply now, all i watch now is chuck, ncis, house, and dollhouse.
that new show royal pains seems good but 1/2 thouse shows aren't scifi, i like scifi cuz the majority of the writers make scripts that are not appealing to the lowest common denom., they are like frasier in space.

I really don't expect to ever see live action Firefly with our big damn heroes anymore.
I could see a remake in 10 years or a spin off, but our cast is getting older and busier. I just watched train job last night and it's a little shocking how much younger Summer looks in the series than she does now. It will take a long time for Morena to grow her hair back to Inara length. Adam has already said he doesn't want to play an old Jayne. Our window for more Firefly/Serenity is almost shut IMO.
