So, I was just wondering.....in the BSR, who is your favorite author and why? Lots to choose from, and hard to decide, I know. But I'm just curious.....

Whenever I see Mal4Prez, cliosmuse, Aliasse, or CharlieBZ post, my day has immediately been made.

The same also goes for GillianRose, though she tends to post her fics over at fanfiction.

I miss CharlieBZ! Where the heck is she? She needs to finish her fic soon! Her post-BDM is by far my favorite.

GillianRose said she's working on a collab with CharlieBZ, so she's still around and still working on stuff.

I've noticed lots of these writers are teachers, with any luck, with the school year wrapping up, they should be able to post more.

It was reading good fanfiction that got me into writing it myself.

My Fave's include some authors that don't post anymore or very rarely like Screw the Alliance and Hotpoint.

Makes my day when Slumming, Jane0904, Angellemarcs, TuJiaoZuo, blackbeanie, badkarma00, cbsteve or GorramitGirl post something new.

I read a lot of fanfiction here and I rarely find one I do not care for.

I like to just keep refreshing the preview blurbs at the top of the BSR page. I've found quite a few good stories that way. the other thing I do is start going through using the alphabetical list.

It seems you and I have similar tastes. Also, going through the BSR alphabetically is good too. A lot of good fics have been posted over the years and have long ago left the front page.

of all the fanfics I've read, ManiacGiraffe's DinoTales series, from several years back, comes to mind. Several little stories, all funny, from the POV of Wash's buddies.

As a reader, I have limited time, so I tend to stick to gen fic with canon pairings. Sorry fic writers, but I find stories with crew members paired, happily married, with babies, predictable and boring...in some of these; the same plot lines are getting reworked over and over again. There is always some new and improved external force threatening the crew and well...you know what I mean...the show would have been canceled shamefully, if it went this route, not just stupidly, like it was.

In saying so, lately I've enjoyed cliosmuse's work on Inara's secret and no, it's not Mal/Inara together; they've never even touched, but it's a brilliant character exploration of the two of them. It's called Something to Think On and it has ME thinking about, love, strength, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be a hero and carry someone, after losing so much. It's Joss worthy in its writing maturity and I highly recommend it for all fans, even if you don't like the Mal and Inara relationship in the show or movie, you will take something away from this.
