Stupid Question About "Shindig"

First, I gotta say this, I am still new to the board, I've only made about 10 posts, so this might be one of those damn stupid questions... In Shindig, when Badger gets on the ship, how does he? i thought they were orbiting in space, I thought "What'd he do float in there?" LOL. Seriously though, how? Was the crew parked somewhere? And how did Inara and Mal end up get to them also, if they were in space waiting for them? Pleace help or I'll be cursed with stupid thoughts forever! Thanks!

They were parked on Persephone.
You can tell because daylight pours into the ship when Mal and Inara return.

I think they always land and park on any planet or moon. it's not star trek where the (big) ships are build in space and can never fly into atmo. Voyager and the shuttles were the only star trek ships that can land, as far as I know.

Serenity was build to fly in atmo as well as in space, that's what the left and right rotatable engines are for. and she has landing struts and is seen on ground in lots of EPs they never go down by shuttle and leave her in orbit. might be though that the big alliance cruisers are build in space and can't land, they have a shape that's certainly not good for flying in atmo and they seem to be too big to land anyways.

just my thoughts, I kinda don't like ships that can't land. and I can't even tell you why, just don't like them. and I certainly love Serenity. Firefly's a good design. and she looks so real, used and a bit worn.
