Homage To

I am trying to think of shows or movies I could pay homage to, like for instance an homage to "West World" by having the crew from another 'verse go to a resort world set in the 1800s, or perhaps "Red Dwarf" where that crew lands on a planet where time goes backwards. Can people please help me with ideas for shows to pay homage to and brief explanations on how to do it? Thank you

Well I'm going to try and pay homage to Horizon and AVP in a two part series, Red Dwarf in a single episode, and Blade Runner in yet another. Oh and I am really going to try and get an homage to Super Trooper which is a comedy, but I'm going to have to buy that and watch it a few times.

Blade Runner is a good one. Harrison Ford could very well be a BDH, investigating the Alliance involvement in the River Tam case.

But I like better the Event Horizon or
Sphere premise - Fear in space. Sort of touched upon in FF (Reavers reaching the edge of space).
Perhaps the crew salvaging a derelict vessel and it happens to be near the edge. They each experience something different - greatest fears or greatest desires - flashing back to change a decision gone wrong or something they longed for (such as Zoe getting Wash back, River's parents not sending her to the academy, Inara not getting sick, Simon getting his career back, Kaylee not being raped, Book being a 'good' cop). How their lives would be different, if they could choose to stay and never coming to Serenity.

Thank you, Shinygoodguy. I went to a friend’s house on Saturday and we came up with that show as an idea to work on. The story base of what I am working on won't easily allow a direct translation of Blade Runner, but my story does deal with “artificial humans,” and “mechanical people” of a type that deal with many of the same issues that the replicants in Blade Runner faced. I also do have a nifty plot device planted in my story line that if I can find the space perhaps I can throw an entire episode dedicated to a “Blade Runner” type planet. Again, I say thank you Shinygoodguy for your input.
