So thats 7 so far, 3 of which are in the Manchester area, (which also meets RUSALKI99's preference for a northern venue)..may I suggest this could be the ideal place for such an event..?!

[/QUO TE]And Im in warrington so that suits me too.

Amanda and Neil here! Hampshire based. Do bike rallies most weekends, all weathers! Used to travelling! I do bits and bobs for local charities. Neil's Mam runs a charity 'KenyaAid'. We help out on the stall or whatever when we can.

Can strap tents and sleeping bags to bike and travel. Send details and we'll see what we can do.

Looking like Manchester then. But with this amount of people we are likely to be in somebodys living room with a pizza and big screen tv. Unless thats what you want???

Banbury here. But can travel :-)

Oh and I'd probably bring the family...6 of us, all Browncoats :-)

I may be able to put you in touch with a few other folk who are also looking into this (or at least those who have done it before who could give useful advice. The CSTS forum is also a good source for advice) Still early, but you can never start planning this early enough. The "Phantom Screening/Shindig" model can also work if doing it officially is too much (Everyone who shows watches the film as a private showing and sticks a fiver in the pot for Equality Now. Small, but potentially effective if enough folk do it. I managed to get £65 last year)

Vera over on the UK Board is trying to do something down in Bristol and has registered this with CSTS, so those further south may want to look into that.

Further to my earlier reply, as well as the Bristol CSTS in September, there are now 2 more official CSTS screenings at Warwick (which I went to last year, was much fun) and a new one at Nottingham University, run by the SF&F Society.

There are always rumours of a London one, but nothing solid so far this year AFAIK. Similarly for Oxford and Leicester.

The Oxford shindigs have kinda faded a bit, which is a shame, but the Browncoats are there. Good to see some folk here too :-)

I'm certainly planning on attending the Warwick one again this year (4th July) with the shindig to follow at a nice bar in town (complete with Firefly Cocktails!)

Could you specify dates on all of those? I had great difficulty trying to find any date info on any of those sites.

All the dates are be on the sites linked from the CSTS site and in the Events section of the CSTS site (can you not see it?) It's all there.

Warwick is Sat 4th July (as I already said)
Bristol is Sat 26th September
Nottingham is 16th June (a Tuesday, but this is a University based event mainly relying on local students I imagine)

There is a hint of a London one, a sniff of a Glasgow one, but that is all. Have not heard anything remotely solid about either of these (like nothing other than a couple of posts on the UK board, nor from Leicester where Peepicheep did one last year.)

If I do anything this year in Oxford it will be non public (below the radar if you will: work based only) but there's nothing to stop anyone from doing a "Phantom Screening" like me anywhere you like. You can even show Dr Horrible with permission as long as you notify CSTS at lest 2 weeks beforehand and all profits go to Equality Now. I put last year's raffle money into the Warwick fund. As long as it ends up with EN, use your imagination, what's to stop you?

But I'd always encorage anything like this to be in *support* of an official screening, not an alternative.
