Em before the debate set some ground rules including that the kids must stick to one of these openers to address someone else

The point your making seems to be_________ but the point I'd like to offer is

I thought _____________ was a good point but have you considered_______

The point I want to address is___________________________

I agree with you about ____________________________ but I think _______________________ has more to do with it because

I would like to contradict you on these points____________________

I disagree with you about ________________________________ because_________________________

Along with this make specific additions to the score they receive be tied to voice tone, not interrupting, remaining calm while disagreeing, and presenting arguments without personal attack

well you see, the earth revolves around the sun, and as it does so it spins at a rate of 15 degrees per hour, which exposes a different part of the planet to direct sunlight every hour and produces a day/night cycle. what you're experiencing now is the sun breaking the horizon for another day cycle, just like the one you had yesterday ^_^
if you're asking why it's temporally morning, it's because mankind devised an adequate system of time measure to track our path around the sun and record days, months, and years, etc. we did all of this based on a 24-hour clock, so when it passes twelve midnight, the point when your time zone is directly opposite the sun (citation needed), you pass into the realm of morning because you're drawing closer to the sun again.

barkeep, some of the Good Stuff to get my brain goin. need to finish this gorram portfolio. *dies*

HUGS Gee if it were afternoon I'd be home and resting right now instead of writing a behavior report so I can wade into the fight of the century tomorrow.

NV it's almost Friday and we're one week from Oroville. Does that help??

Oooh great tips on the debate MsA! I'm going to use these. Give them all a tips sheet before hand and advise them to use language like this. I'll show them what I'm going to mark them on too.

Thanks Teacher Guru!

Freelancertex, stop being so clever. You make my brain hurt!!

Actually, scratch that. Be more clever still and work out a way of STOPPING this whole process. I need more time!!!!!! Not enough hours in the day (hence why it's 9pm and I'm still at work!)

There are never enough hours, but you're welcome on the tips... it really helps keep the debates from devolving into name calling and nastiness..
