Favourite Mad Max movie

Road Warrior is 1.
Mad Max is 2.
After taking a chance on this nobody mel gibson, Mad Max was a hit and they needed another flick with this character, but with the angst of not replacing his love lost, his dead wife. They also wanted a more worldwide audience. They marveled at the success and marketing of the Eastwood Man-with-No-Name concepts. The Stranger (rereleased as "Fistfull of Dollars"), The Two Strangers (rereleased as "For a Few Dollars More"), The Three Strangers (rereleased as "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"), High Plains Drifter, Outlaw Josie Wales, etc.
The Amercian Civil War was the time of tremendous change, and so suggesting the future war of Australia was one way to bridge the 2 films with he same character.
I didn't think it the smoothest, but it did seem to work. IIRC Star Wars I and IV had a bit of a time gap in them as well.

thunderdome then the road warrior is the best. thunderdome for the train and tina turners town it ruled. liked the dome fights with big guy with midgit on his back felt sorry for the little guy. road warrior set up the others showing i think the start of the decline of civilization.

The Road Warrior! No contest.
Thunder Dome was okay, but I could have done without the "Captain Walker" section. More Barter Town, less goofy kids!
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
