With no big name movie stars in the cast, "Serenity" was never planned to be a blockbuster, just a reliable start to a possible franchise that can turn a profit on a modest budget. I think April is an excellent time for the release. IT means it won't get buried and people looking for something to see on the weekend might give it a try.

The "Mal's death" comment startled me too, but then I remembered that we've already seen him die once and nearly die a number of times. I defer my judgement until next spring.

Besides which, what kind of a death wish would The Almight JW have to be killing such a character as Mal? Did anyone ever hear the messages on Matt Stone and Trey Parker's voicemail after they pulled the Cartman's dad April Fool's joke? They thought the fans would find it amusing, but they got such a vile and hateful backlash, even actual death threats.

WTF!!!! Joss, whaddaya mean "Mal's death"? Say it ain't so!! I demand a rewrite. Please tell me there is footage of the "Happy Dance"! This I gotta see. As long as Serenity is as true to the series as possible, that's all I care about.

P.S.:I want to see some kind of inside joke about Flux Nutworks in the movie. Blast 'em with both barrels!!!

The only character in the TV series to survive the movie will be Serenity herself; the sequel movies will each have a different crew, with different views of the 'verse.

Yeah, I think Joss is definitely kidding. Unless of course its some kind of reverse psychology so we all think he's kidding, but he's really not. I guess the only way to know for sure is to go see Serenity the day it comes out, whether we want to or not

I'm going to ignore that crack about Mal's death scene. He ALREADY had a death scene in "War Stories", they gonna kill him again?

Either way, I can't WAIT!!!

Hey, maybe Fox will bring it back as a series of TV movies. It could happen! They did it for Alien Nation.....

I'm also happy, imdb.com has updated the cast list for "Serenity" and it now includes Ron Glass. WOOHOO!!

I love a producer and cast who respects the fans. Nothing fosters loyalty than the acknowledgment of the viewers. Looks like these folks know that, and that pleases me to know end.

All I know, folks, is that somebody better confirm SOON that Mal does not die, else I'm tossing my Firefly DVD collection into the loo, and will never watch or read another tidbit about Firefly, Serenity, Joss, cast, crew etc!!! Mr. W. should take care of what he jokes about. This is serious !

(Ma turns her back, crosses her arms over chest in a major huff!)
