I just posted b/c I wanted to show that you don't have to be a resident alien Vietnamese ethnic Chinese person to go postal. If I could have found a story of a DAR woman doing the same thing the same day, I would have posted it, just to make the point a little more strongly.

Everything else - from Wong supposedly being illegal, to Poplawski supposedly having an AK-47 - is just so much rabid gossip masquerading as news. IMHO.

Gunmen Kills Three Pittsburgh Police Officers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. One witness reported hearing hundreds of shots. Poplawski was arrested after a several-hour standoff.

One friend, Edward Perkovic, said Poplawski feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon." Vire said his friend had an AK-47 rifle and several powerful handguns, including a .357 Magnum.

Another friend, Joe DiMarco, said Poplawski had been laid off from his job at a glass factory earlier this year. DiMarco said he didn't know the name of the company, but knew Poplawski had been upset about losing his job.

Now that the nutcase won't be needing his ammo any more, maybe it can be put back into the system. There's a shortage of ammo, I'm hearing, and any little bit would help.

There's that, Rue - I just wish the hell they'd quit focusing on the weapons used, and concentrate on preventing folk from goin postal in the first damned place, that'd be nice, for once.

Yup-yup. I hate to piss on anybody's parade, but if guns were outlawed tomorrow and they all magically disappeared the day after that, and I wanted to "go postal" and do what this douchebag did, I could pretty easily do so with nothing more than a few gallons of gasoline and a case of wine bottles and some rags.

It's not the weapons, it's the fucked-up mindset that tells these fuckers that it's good to take as many with 'em as they can. If you wanna kill yerself, fine. It's not my cup of tea, but you feel free to have at it. Just stop trying to take the whole goddam world down with you! The rest of us might not be quite as miserable here as these assholes are.

I just hope that if I ever reach a point of desperation and a pit as deep as these people seem to have found, that I have a loaded pistol and the strength and fortitude to use it - on myself and no one else!

Hello Frem,

Sadly, even when they focus on the weapons, they usually get all the details wrong. How often have you read about a criminal being caught with 'the semiautomatic civilian version of a military assault rifle?'

I never have.

If I am ever arrested, god forfend, and my house searched, the papers will doubtless publish that a .357 magnum revolver and a shotgun was confiscated from my home, along with 'a stash' of over 500 rounds of ammunition.

Less likely are they to note that my home contains no .357 magnum ammunition, that the revolver was a single-action copy of a 19th century weapon, or that the shotgun was a copy of an antique double-barrel shotgun with exposed hammers.

Such details run counter to the spin.

If my SKS happened to be home at the time, they'd likely further note that a Russian Assault Rifle was found during the search. Russian Assault Rifles sell newspapers and generate web hits.

Vicious 10 shot, 9 pound, internal magazine, semiautomatic weapon issued to Eastern Bloc forces in 1945. Quaintly obsolete on the day it was designed, yet still relatively accurate and reliable. The only reliable centerfire rifle, in fact, that I could purchase for 150 bucks.

They might mention that price, though, either to alarm the citizenry that the criminally destitute can purchase weapons cheaply, or in order to suggest that the weapon is a 'Saturday Night Special' firearm that no respectable citizen would deign to own.

Anthony:

Good luck tracking down an SKS for $150 these days. Last few I've seen have been at least double that.

They would, I am absolutely sure, mention its underfolding bayonet. After all, the only thing more deadly than a 60-year-old "assault rifle" is a knife. ;)

I've never understood why people get so freaky about bayonets on military-surplus rifles. It's as if they think having a spike on the end of the gun makes it somehow more dangerous. They're more worried that you might stab someone with your "assault rifle" than they are that you might shoot someone with it!

In all honesty, after about 1920 or so, post WWI and in an era which made glory charges suicidal due to the advent of the machinegun (but try telling generals that, even NOW!) the primary reason for a bayonet, other than getting your rations open, was psychological.

Of course, I mounted one on my personal for a gag - I was lugging an M60A1 with a freakin AA barrel on it, a weapon so ludicrously large in comparison to it's wielder already that the itty bitty blade on the end was just plain comic.

I'm 5'6" and 130lbs soakin wet with boots on, and since the M60 I lugged was one of those halfass interm versions which never made it into production, I don't have a pic for you, and most of the images you'll find are of the E3/E4 mini short barrel, which lead to the weapons demise as the shorter, lighter barrel lost most of it's effective range and punch, and well as heating and losing accuracy much faster.

Best I can do for ya, complete with hillbilly handler...

Take a look at that monster at 0:24 and add about eighteen inches and a slightly thicker barrel, and imagine it carried by puny little me, and THEN picture a freakin bayonet on it.

Of course, I was playing to it a little, cause deliberately establishing a rep as a wackjob got me out of much of the BS I thoroughly despised like details and paperwork - would YOU trust the guy lugging that horror for supply re-order ?

I look at this crime as "gang on gang violence", exactly the same "I dont give a shlt" as if Crips and Bloods kill each other over a bag of crack.

All cops are career criminals, perping treason upon USA, by their own definition.

If this loony puts 3 crooks out of service, good riddance.

I doubt I'm in a monority. The only thing stopping mass celebrations at cop funerals is the mandatory attendance by every cop in a 100-mile radius.

Dial 911 and wait to die, or wait for cops to kill your family. Your choice. In the meantime, cops will deal the drugs and rob you blind for the NWO banksters. Modern Redcoats like 1776.

Alien on Greyhoud bus stabs, decapitates, eats sleeping passenger in Victim Disaramaent Zone as cops cower for 6 hours, never jailed by reason of insanity, to be released with no criminal record to kill again and justify Police State

Frem, I know you've remarked a few times on the omnipresence of the cheapie Mosin-Nagant rifles, but this along may make you want to track one down...

I got mine, and it had a little "instruction manual" that had been translated from the original, which was WWII era. It's got the side-folder bayonet, which is about a 14" long triple-sided "spike" style bayonet, which folds back along the side of the rifle's stock.

Anyways, the manual says that if you should happen to stick the bayonet in someone and it gets stuck, you can "loosen" the flesh and bone by firing a round or two into the offender, so you can get the bayonet out. Pretty gruesome stuff, but what I was thinking was, "If I've still got ammo in the damned thing [and it only holds 5 rounds], why on Earth am I sticking the bayonet into people in the first place? Just firing off a round is enough to burst their eardrums, even if it doesn't hit them!"

And seriously, when I let my buddy shoot it, he was on the next lane over, behind a wooden partition, and when he fired that beast, I felt the concussion. It tends to move a lot of air around when it goes off. There was a list of "manliest rifles", and the Nagant was definitely on it. The author claimed that even if you didn't hit your target, if you fired the rifle within 30 feet of them, they'd spend the next six months walking around yelling "WHAT? WHAT?!?"
