Actually, it is the case. Steven Swanson, engineer and NASA astronaut took a copy of the Firefly DVDs up to the Space Station last year and is definately a big fan. So there's at least one guy at Nasa pushing for Serenity, though I'm sure there's even more since it was a listed choice.

While I highly doubt they'll go with Colbert, despite them beating us by 40,000 votes, I feel really bummed that we didnt' get together enough on this one to pull ahead.

My household boycotted Colbert (something that near broke my heart - he's very funny, but I can't respect him after I heard this). One of his flunkies totally dissed the makers of The Venture Brothers, when they asked if he'd br interested in doing another episode of the show. They were condescending and said of course he wasn't. I know he's not the one who wrote the message, but he never once, that I have heard, stepped up and apologized. I know they got someone else to do the voice of the character Colbert originally played, but wow, it seems SO awful that he'd let that happen! Worse, you'd think he'd remember the people that helped him before he was famous. That alone makes me ashamed of him.

I certainly hope they don't call it Colbert. I used to think he was great, but when you suddenly get so full of yourself, you can treat the people who helped you get there like dirt, you're the real scumbag.

Until he apologizes or at the very least, acknowledges this whole thing, he's on MY "List".

I don't have any doubts that NASA will make a tasteful choice for the name of Node 3, even if it isn't "Serenity". You don't find yourself in charge there without having some brains in your head.

He won fair and square. Maybe we could get the Captain to shoot him the foot or something.

"The name should reflect the spirit of exploration and cooperation embodied by the space station, and follow in the tradition set by Node 1- Unity- and Node 2- Harmony."

Serenity is therefore a perfect fit.

Colbert is a perfect punk-ass.

You know, thinking about it, for a show that's been off the air for years vs a show that is still currently broadcast, losing by only 40,000 votes is still pretty kick ass.

NASA still reserves the right to choose the name best suited to the theme, and I think Serenity fits that very well, but hopefully they'll still give a nod to Colbert - maybe they can name the waste containment module after him?

Agreed. I just can't see NASA naming it "Colbert" that is just lame and not in keeping with the other module names.

Come on NASA! Pick Serenity!

you forgot to mention that there is a NASA Browncoat group of 300+ NASA employees, and one post here sometimes, screen name Maii. Steve Swanson lives in Colorado, where I live.

Apparently you haven't seen the thread about the browncoat astronaut ;) we *do* have someone on the inside, though he's probably not the only fan down in TX.

yeah, I agree with PR and MsA
