Technically, the 21st century commenced Jan 1, 2001.
At the time of Heysoos, the numbering systems did not include zero, so there was no year zero, the first year started with year 1. At the end of the first year, the start of the next year was year 2. At the start of the next decade, it was year 11. At the start of the next century, it was year 101. The first century was Jan 1, 1 until Dec 31, 100 (if the calendar had the same months/days). So the 20th century was Jan 1, 1901 until Dec 31, 2000.

But some folk conjure differently.

Well, I grew up with these books for the last decade or whatever, and I won't apologise for liking them! At least it didn't end with "oh, Hogwarts is a spaceship! DUMBLEDORE? When did you turn into an alien! Oh no, we're taking off! Everybody get out!!"

And thank god Shia Lebeouf isn't Harry. That is all. :)

Haven't made a list yet, but In Bruges would definitely be on it. LOVE that movie - probably because I went into it with no expectations whatsoever.

I had actually been looking forward to In Bruges for some time, and I absolutely loved it. Saw it once at a film festival, and then again about 4 months later when it was released in cinemas. Still need to get it on DVD and watch it again, simply hilarious.

I'm afraid I must disagree with you on Napoleon Dynamite though. I absolutely HATE that film. The main reason I hate it, is probably because everyone else loves it. And I don't mean that that is the reason I dislike it, I mean, in my opinion, it is a truly boring and unfunny film, and even kind of made me feel insulted that I should find this at all interesting. And everyone keeps going on about it. And wears shirts about it. And quotes it. etc. etc. So I didn't like it to begin with, but the fact that I keep on being reminded of it, has lead me to hate it.

I concur. One of the few movies I refused to finish watching. My son loves it and thinks I'm a douchebag for not liking it.

Ah, see, I wish I'd switched it off half way through. But I just kept sitting there thinking "at some point..it must get funny...why else would everyone like it...any minute now...any minute now..." and I'd kept hearing about his 'dance' at the end, so I figured I should watch that.

His dance wasn't funny, and it never got funny. I have quite a few friends who love it, and they can call me a douchebag all they want, I'm never going to rewatch and/or enjoy that film.
