I remember the original actress who played the leader was a beautiful brunette much like Morena, and it good that our trained companion is finding work, but I really fear for this project, unless they can find a way to make the story better and not just try to compensate with new special effects.

The news flash didn't say if it would be a miniseries like the original, which BTW was really well done (considering what little special FX they had back in the mid-80's) and I'll only watch because of the beautiful Morena.
As I recall, Marc (Beastmaster) Singer was one of the resistance leaders back in the day, and could easily be Nathan's brother. So, why not have Nathan do a quest spot on V as well. Now that would be shiny.

i second that. it's like the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still, or as my cousing put it 'taking a fifties B movie and trying to make it into a new A movie." ><;; just doesnt work unless you do a LOT to change it

I've never even heard of the original series (?), so I have no idea what a remake would entail. Guess I'll have to go sniffing around the interwebs for more information. I guess it must have had some decent interest back in the day if some execs think a remake is worth it?

I watched it the first time around and I loved it.
Of course I was about 12 or 13 at the time. My favorite character was (Willie?) the alien who was good. Little did I know it was Freddie Kruger in disguise... yet another good actor.
I don't remember it that clearly, as I wasn't allowed to stay up late and watch it every episode or something. I remember the split tongue on the baby grossing me out.
Or gagging me with a spoon, as it WAS the 80s after all...

I thought the original mini-series was good for its time and limited FX budget, but I lost interest as the series progressed. It got too repetitive and predictable.

For it's time, it wasn't so bad...
I mean comparatively to what else was on the tube, it was fairly superior, and while some of the character acting was a bit hit or miss, when it was "on" it was indeed pretty decent.
I never watched the TV series, cause it just smacked of needless milking of a story that was best left where the two movies and three part mini-series ended it, although they did start it with what sounded like an interesting, and plausible premise.
Morena as Diana, I can see that, and someone mentioned above a certain resemblance between Nathan and Marc Singer's character, which would make for an interesting cameo - it'd be nice to see the darker side of the excellent chemistry between Nathan and Morena, wouldn't it ?
Of course, my favorite character of the bunch is likely to once again get short shrift, I wonder who they'll get to do Ham Tyler, cause it'll be hard to match Ironsides original performance of a very nasty, slightly psychotic fellow who finds himself in a position where his talents for making people dead are actually valued and lauded, and Ironsides totally played to it with a side order of bacon (oh how appropriate the name of his character!) while giving Singers character hell for being too nice, heh.
Ham Tyler: Too bad we didn't bring our little brown shirt along, Now we're gonna have to find another guinea pig.
Mike Donovan: You can't just pick someone out at random, that would be murder.
Ham Tyler: There are plenty of collaborators out there, how about your mother?
Mike Donovan: That's cheap!

Brown shirt? Is that similar to a brown coat?
Mwah ha ha ha ha~! (maniacal laughter...)
Not like a red shirt....did somebody on the show wear a brown shirt all the time?
"I think we lost our fuzzy dice back there."
"Going for a ride."

No - but they both swiped the opening scene of giant flying saucers appearing over the world's cities
from the classic Arthur C Clarke book "Childhood's End".
