Everything in its own time.
Saw "Watchers". A dark superhero movie. Well done.
I thought the last Batman movie was dark, but Watchers tops that film.

Before you realise it it will be in the 50's and you will be puting your winter coat away.

I've already bought the majority of the books I need (well, me and the rents...), so book spending for me is just looking for new books from all the authors I like (and although there's a ton, they all either already dead, or write slowly!)

lol, see my major problem is i kind of have this principle when it comes to books, "everything merits reading once" so if i see something by an author i dont know and it sounds interesting, i'll buy it just to read it and see if it's as good as advertised (by 'advertised' i mean the summary on the back cover), so i end up buying a lot ><;;

NOTIFY: Y  | REPLY  | REPLY WITH QUOTE  | PERMALINK  | TOP  | HOME

Monday, March 23, 2009 12:23 AM

Aah. I have that problem too, but since I shop online instead of in bookstores most of the time, I find I can usually save a bit more in book-buying, for all the musics I want (I have an entire wish-list for bands I want to buy more of, and a longer one just for albums. And at approx. 15 bucks an album.... it gets pricy >_<)

aha, see, I buy all my music from the zune marketplace (its like itunes, only i like the Zune [microsoft's mp3 player] better, and my bf agrees the software program is kick-ass) so I pick and choose the songs/albums i want that way, and its a lot cheaper. balances out to about 8-10 bucks an album if u buy the whole album, dunno the math on individual songs (the bf could figure it out in his head in two seconds if he were here).
books i buy online, but then after i buy online, if i go to the mall or something, the gravitational pull of Borders pulls me into the store and i start browsing, then i walk out with like 8 million *other* books ><;; i've decided that when i buy/build a house, i need to have my own room with floor to ceiling bookshelves all over. theres a house on the end of my street that has this little annex right before the garage, and two of its walls are small pane windows. well one time i was driving by at night and the lights were on in that room, i nearly drove off the road because it was *packed* with books, floor to ceiling, wall to wall, bookshelves. i want that room XD

NOTIFY: Y  | REPLY  | REPLY WITH QUOTE  | PERMALINK  | TOP  | HOME

Monday, March 23, 2009 12:40 AM

Lolz.I would buy online because it's cheaper, but the rents would go beserk if I told them I'd like some kind of online account, and if I gave them my money and bought stuff with their account, they would sure as hell be breathing on my neck while I was doing it, and that kinda thing creeps the HELL out of me >_<

yin: yeah except i've stacked up late fees at libraries before, so i may as well have just *bought* the damn book for the amount of times I forgot to renew it. That's why I stopped goin to libraries XD if i checked out a stack of books, i wouldn't be able to get to all of them before the return date, and i was always too busy (and without car) to renew them due to other things. that's why i just buy em. :P

I buy books if they if I know the authors or the subject is something I enjoy reading about. I go to the library mainly for my book club reading. Some of the books they choose are not what I would have choosen for myself. But it is good to read a variety of authors, it gives me I the opportunity to learn if there is author I might like to buy and read more of.

In Milwaukee, each library sponsers a book club. There are only eight regulars and most are retired and female. So I don't have to much in common with them, but every once in a while one of them suggests a really great book. I will never forget "Memories of Running". One of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read. It reminds me of the Odyssey. Not that it is based on that story, it just has that theme of misadventures during an unexpected journey.

I suspect Skakespeare wrote for the common people of his time. Using slang words that may have been in their own speech. I always think of Midsummersnight Dream, where a common villager had a major roll in the play. Also having Henry V having friends like Falstaff.

Y'all know what I'm gettin' at. As far as poetry, if I have to restrict myself to meter, I'm partial to anapestic. If not....well, I love Ogden Nash's style - doesn't matter how long the sentence gets as long as it rhymes.

As for the weather changing, it changed just a tad earlier than I'd like this year but I'm still bracing myself for one last blizzard. :P

I have had days where I reach for my car keys and they are not there and the rest of the day continues to be one frustrating event after another. The missing cars keys are like an omen of things to come.
