Guess you ignored the other posts in the thread. Big difference - people SAW Slumdog. No one saw DAAF.

how well released was DAAF in the US? Does anyone know?
Here in Aus, it was released quite well, lots of posters and some trailers on TV, and I know lots of people went and saw it...

In Reference to "storymark's" comment: I didn't ignore the other posts...I'm not sure what you mean. I just added my opinion...(as people are frequently encouraged to do on this site...which is why I like it so much). I am admittedly more than mildly computer illiterate so perhaps my inability to place my comment appropriately in this thread has caused confusion. Apologies. Also re nobody seeing "Death at a Funeral" I agree with "BIGRICHARD"I suppose it depends on where you live . I live in a not so big town in Central NSW Australia, and almost everyone I know saw it and loved it, from little old ladies to high school kids. Then again we do love Brit comedies over here.

Schism, I'll tell ya what the red blooded American likes to watch. 101 start up movie studio.. Good Chinamen vs Bad Chinamen movies. Hometown hero comes home after war beats up red necks saves woman with kid. Real popular in the South. Aliens come to Earth under peace disguise just to breed the women the US Army sets them straight back home. Boy and dog get separated in the civil war. Dog comes home with metals then dies. This is what America enjoys.

Storymark mentioned the $9M DAAF made and that was here in the US. But elsewhere, overseas actually, it made a little over $38M.
H-wood loves movies that make large piles of cashy-money. So we get the remake of DAAF. I agree that H-wood has lost it's creative edge....actually that's bull; they want to make large piles of cashy-money....bottom line, period, end of story.
I've noticed that for some time now, I believe it's when they invented the Box Office Count (gross amounts of the above-mentioned cashy thingy) that H-wood has gone, well....Hollywood.
There are a handful of studios, mostly independents (gee, where have I heard that before)
that are fighting the good fight and producing quality films. Unfortunately the majority of the Big Studios are opting for more money, rather than really good films, like Serenity for example.
BTW DAAF was made for a mere $9M, so they walked away with $30-plus Million in profits. Not bad for a little 9 million dollar Brit movie. If you don't already know 'Slumdog' was made for $15M and has, to date, made over $132.7M. Not bad for a movie that was supposed to go straight to DVD.
So yes, there will be sequels, prequels and remakes up the wazoo.
So kiddies, prepare thyselfs for the onslaught.
