Why So Low and Slow?

We gained -35 votes on Jericho in the last seven days.

We gained -20 votes on Jericho last week (317 the previous week). Overall the total vote at the beginning of the week is Jericho 49134 (48306 last week), Firefly 48362 (47554 last week) We are 772 behind, versus 752 a week ago. A year ago, we were ahead. Over the last few weeks, we have been closing the gap.

The absentee operator of TVTally, or someone with sysadmin privs, showed up in January to do some site maintenance. Several things have changed. First, the cookie monster has been tamed somewhat. By using a browser with cookies turned off, you can now only vote three times for one show every six hours, not six times. Second, the message boards have disappeared. This was the only way, in theory, for the site admin and users to communicate (no one ever responds when tvtally@gmail.com is used). Now it's all gone (and I posted the last message, last November, I hope that wasn't the cause). Thought there was a third fix, but no. The weekly totals are not yet correctly returning to zero, but they are returning to some older dataset. This nonsense began in January, where tvtally weekly numbers first did not roll over to zero. Instead what showed up was larger numbers, with Jericho in the lead. Many other shows got numbers other than zero. This does not have any impact on the overall totals. It's just confusing.

If you turn off cookies on your browser, when you go to TVTally, you can vote up to three (used to be six) times (and for more than one show, or all for one show). You can also vote more than once in six hours (unpredictable, tends to happen early in the day, and after 6 PM). Some consider this cheating, some don't. Either you're a cookie monster, or you ain't.

At Stargate ( http://stargate-news.com/sci-fi-poll-best-in-science-fiction.html) we are at 53.3 percent today, for the best SciFi movie.

At NASA ( http://www.nasa.gov/externalflash/name_ISS/index.html) we have until the 20th to name a space station module Serenity. Today we are at 78 percent, with 541,035 votes so far.

At BBC today we are; Serenity 41.96% Star Wars 29.58% Blade Runner 17.16% Planet of the Apes 1.83% The Matrix 9.48% 42517 Votes Cast
